I recently started training in the afternoon(90 F).  So I thought I'd find out what other people think about running in the heat!

*Do you like running in hot weather conditions. If yes, at what temperature

*What time of the day do you train

*Which was the hottest race you ever ran.

*Prefered training location (as in Highway, Beach, Park)

*Most important lesson you learned after training in the heat.

*  Yes... and no.  I run better in the heat, faster.  I sweat a lot more... duh.   90 degrees down here in the Low Contry- South Carolina.
*  nooner
*  I ran a halfer marathon in Atlanta and it was hot.  I think it was June or July.
*  I would rather be in the mountains... Blue Ridge Moutnains
*  Drink water, morning, noon, and night.  First thing in the morning (before coffee)  drink 16 ozs of h2o.
learn to take E suplments for long runs- anything that exceed 1 hour and will continue to 2 or more.

I would rather run in 30 degree temps any day- but I lose the weight in the summer and I really bring my pace down.

Not that I have anything to do with high performance but I like polls.

*Do you like running in hot weather conditions. If yes, at what temperature.  I like training in heat but not so much racing.  In the Nw the temps are pretty moderate so if I see the thermostat heading for 3 digits I'll wait for the hottest part of the day, apply sunblock and head out.

*What time of the day do you train  Noon and early evening

*Which was the hottest race you ever ran.  I think it reached the 90's during my Cascade crest 100 in 2006.

*Prefered training location (as in Highway, Beach, Park) Mountain trails

*Most important lesson you learned after training in the heat. Don't think your pace your is not affected by the heat.  You have to adjust your pace to accomadate the heat for training as well as racing.   Heat training helps.

5k in July - I was miserable and felt absolutely awful
*Prefered training location (as in Highway, Beach, Park)
mixture but mountain trails are my favorite
*Most important lesson you learned after training in the heat.
have plenty of water available, use E-Caps every hour, train by effort not pace, never race in the heat
