Up Topic Communities / Women / Refugee Roll call
- - By freps Date 2006-06-28 9:47 PM
It's like a post-Katrina refugee round up.  Can we take stock of who has shown up in the new 'hood?  I'm thinking we may need to send some boats up to round up our lost sisters.

Sure glad to be here on dry land though, and let me just say:meh:.

PS who did this?  How?  Do we need to bake cookies for him/her or something?
Parent - - By freps Date 2006-06-28 9:47 PM
Ummm...yeah...me.
Parent - By yaldah Date 2006-06-29 8:55 AM
Present!!!
Parent - - By gohawki [us] Date 2006-06-28 9:51 PM
I'm here.  This format is so nice!  But I still check in at RWOL too.
Parent - - By freps Date 2006-06-28 9:54 PM
not to get off topic...but are you registered for Carlsbad?  Any interest in staying at La costa Spa and being princesses for a weekend?
Parent - By gohawki [us] Date 2006-06-28 9:59 PM
I did register for Carlsbad!  I'm waiting for my shirt.  :)  The spa sounds AWESOME but I think we'll probably stay in our timeshare in Oceanside again because we'll be a one income family since I'll be back in school full time.
Parent - - By Samantha Date 2006-06-28 10:54 PM
I wanna be a princess for a wkend! :shocker!:
Parent - By freps Date 2006-06-29 6:51 AM
so--come to Carlsbad, run the half and we can get hot rock massages side by side!
Parent - By mandy_vocal Date 2006-06-28 9:59 PM
I'm here, too :)

I stop by almost daily, but just don't seem to have too much to say these days :meh:

I am glad that more or of our women are coming here, but I still head over to RWOL to check in on everyone who is still there.

Amanda

Mutiger and noskillz from L&O are the founding fathers.
They rock... really rock.

Great to see you, girl.

Hi...  just reh'd tunes from Mikado and Guys'n'Dolls for a few hours.  There's a kid with a few solos who's maybe 8, and she has an incredibly big mezzo voice.  it's hilarious to hear her...  and amazing at the same time!

(I'm a "maid" from Mikado...  heh, me, maid?)
Parent - By Nomad Date 2006-06-29 1:25 AM
I'm more more enamoured of this forum than either of the other two so I'm here: new name but old me

I understand the 'stagnation' concern but I've always considered the forum my 'virtual running club' - if I can't get answers here I'll post on RT to get more opinions on a specific question, but they're not really wanting to be a clubhouse & since I don't have running friends in my so-called real world I honestly appreciate the NRR/SRR conversations we can have here.  The graphics on RW are simply impossible for me to load so I have little choice there.

I'll be sending an email to the awol Euro Wackos today to round them up.
Parent - By magali [fr] Date 2006-06-29 1:39 AM
Here too
Parent - By Pencils [us] Date 2006-06-29 3:24 AM
Me too!

And I sent Curly the link yesterday, and she wrote back and told me she registered and read a bit, but doesn't have time to post right now.  But she says "HI!" to everyone.  We had lunch yesterday, which was fun.  Apparently she's not, in actuality, a 45-year-old man named Bob.  (Yes, of course I've met Curly in person before  )
Parent - By Carolyn_runs [gb] Date 2006-06-29 4:14 AM
Me! Me!  I'm here!  And very, very happy about it.

Freps, how are you feeling these days?
Parent - - By cdocrun Date 2006-06-29 4:20 AM
i found it and it definitely feels more like home (i hate change and this is the least change).

thanks to the developers.... but with no ads, what pays for it and their time to take care of it???

Here!

Freps, how's it going? I haven't "seen" you in awhile, but I'm glad to know you made it land. Stroll on up to the beach bar. We have cocktails waiting for you.

Yay, I can type cocktail here. :x

A couple of the L&O guys did this.

Not sure how often I'll be able to come around and post, work and family are very busy right now.
I'm so happy this forum was created, the other one was a little too :wtf: for me

Parent - By slowgirl Date 2006-06-29 7:15 AM
I'm here.  But checking in at the other two places too.  Which is time-consuming.  :meh:
Parent - - By happilyrunning [us] Date 2006-06-29 7:43 AM
Hello.  I would like to check in.  I mostly post on the PP thread, but I'm sure I'm going to have to graduate from that thread at some point.  I asked the gals last night if they would like to move.  I know we like this format a lot better.  Will a PP thread be welcome here?  :wtf:
Parent - By Bunny Date 2006-06-29 7:52 AM
Of course! Everyone is welcome! Besides having a PP thread will help with my 'it was all a bad dream -- nothing ever changed' deal-y.
Parent - By runningbuff Date 2006-06-29 10:23 AM
Uh, YEAH!! Where else are we supposed to lurk and think about the horrors of pregnancy? PP and Preggos are great incentives to not get pregnant
Parent - By moonglow9 Date 2006-06-29 12:33 PM
Of course!! We love all our forumites :)
Parent - By Laris [us] Date 2006-06-29 7:45 AM
Present and accounted-for, in my post-apocalyptic numberless incarnation.

I like it here.  I understand and share the stagnation concerns, but it's just SO much easier to post, reply, and follow the threads over here.  I really depend on the forums for much more than RR discussion- even most of my real-life friends are long distance, so being able to chat with you guys is important to me.

Awwwwww:hug::laugh:

Parent - - By DaffodilRunner Date 2006-06-29 8:10 AM
What was your new RWOL name?  I'm confused.:wtf: (love this guy :))

Parent - By DaffodilRunner Date 2006-06-29 8:09 AM
Mostly lurking...

The OS ladies dedided pretty much unanimously that we are going to stay on the old forum, but perhaps I'll post my daily over here too?  It just takes so much time!  Mind you it is sad that we don't all have the same board anymore
Parent - By kerbear [us] Date 2006-06-29 8:32 AM
I am here! Don't think I'll bother much, if at all, with the other two anymore. One is just a complete mess that SCREAMS "I'm not working" and the other I feel like I'm tiptoeing around, waiting to get kicked off. This is just right
Parent - By fridayfishfry [us] Date 2006-06-29 8:34 AM
I am here, sort of. Going back and forth between all 3 forums and not posting much on any.
Parent - - By Jen1979 [us] Date 2006-06-29 8:37 AM
I just registered now.  I figured everyone must have gone here since there were only 3 dailies in the RT forum and 2 in the RW forum!
Parent - By moonglow9 Date 2006-06-29 12:33 PM
Lol, I was thinking the same thing when I checked the other boards this morning.  Wow, what a difference.
Parent - - By SJRunner [us] Date 2006-06-29 8:42 AM
I am here and loving it. Worried about some of the "lost sisters" who won't be able to access this though. Tessa, for instance, can't get on here from work.
Parent - By lovelylisa Date 2006-06-29 10:07 AM
Oh no. I was wondering where Tessa was. :(
Parent - - By moonglow9 Date 2006-06-29 12:32 PM
Do we know what the problem in access is for Tessa? Is it a loading issue? That the board isn't public? Not officially running-linked?  Maybe we can help...
Parent - - By SJRunner [us] Date 2006-06-29 2:12 PM
Her company firewall blocks this address. Nothing we can do from here I suspect.
Parent - By amyNtx Date 2006-07-03 8:28 AM
Off topic, but where are you in texas?

The humidity is about to drown me around here (houston area)

I'm here and very impressed that this board was created by forumites.
Parent - By runningbuff Date 2006-06-29 10:25 AM
Here! I'm a huge fan of this forum. Like cdocrun, I'm not fond of change and this feels the most like the old forum. I'm so happy to see more and more of you all here.

I'm not around much these days, but I'm lurking a little. I'll be back when work calms down a bit.
Parent - By moonglow9 Date 2006-06-29 12:31 PM

Parent - - By freps Date 2006-06-29 2:46 PM
Okay, so who is missing?

How big a boat do we have to float?

Anyone seen Ankah, or whatever Aimee's name is?

Has MJM checked in?

Nemo?

Zipper?

American Girl?

Noquitter?

(it is quite possible they are here...I'm just trying to brainstorm absent posters and can't think of more....)
Parent - By pricklypear Date 2006-06-29 2:48 PM
Zipper was here, but she's off at summer camp. And I think I saw AG too.

I haven't seen Hayburner...
Parent - - By MetalChick Date 2006-06-29 3:03 PM
What about Nini? Grasshopper? Has Busy Cat been here? I think there are quite a few who don't want to make the switch.
Parent - By slowgirl Date 2006-06-29 3:20 PM
Nini and Busy Cat know about the new forum, I know.  Not sure about Grasshopper.

I know Annie Runs is not at home right now so may not have much computer access.
Parent - - By Mjm Date 2006-06-29 3:33 PM

MJM!!  Good to see you!!
Parent - By DaffodilRunner Date 2006-06-29 6:45 PM
Ankah and Nemo are hanging around a lot on the Tri forum over on RW.  Seems like we've got a bit of a community established over there now.  I'll make sure they know tomorrow that you guys were looking for them :)
Parent - By mmrocker13 [us] Date 2006-06-30 9:25 AM
Zips sent the addy (to the XT folks, at least, i know for sure), so she knows we're here.
Parent - - By Arimathea [us] Date 2006-07-02 3:08 PM
I emailed LuckyDog, she has only intermittent computer access b/c of being off work postsurgery.

How about smiling_sara?  I haven't seen her on any of the boards, RT, RW, or here.

Grasshopper?  Has she checked in here?

The TPG -- dawnelder (now ironwoman1 on RW), Nemo, LeadFoot (now soul_surfer)?  It seems like preggos and PP are mostly continuing on RW.
Parent - - By slowgirl Date 2006-07-02 3:52 PM
I think dawnelder got the email I sent about it.

I think I've seen Grasshopper here - no wait, that was at RWOL, or has she been here too?  I'm so confused - keeping up with three forums is tough.  Actually it's more like just two now 'cause there's not much action at RT anymore.
Parent - By Arimathea [us] Date 2006-07-04 8:25 PM
Grassy changed her email when she moved.  I just emailed both her and Sara.

Parent - By gohawki [us] Date 2006-06-29 2:55 PM
Why the sigh?
Parent - - By freps Date 2006-06-29 2:58 PM
I knew you were here.  Are you sighing because you thought I overlooked you?  Or are you tired of moving your psychic furniture around, like the rest of us.

        (looking up)  HI hawk.

So...whassup? Tell me about this forum, who did it and where did it come from? Why is the sky blue? Why does god kill kittens when you masturbate?
Parent - - By DaffodilRunner Date 2006-06-30 8:27 AM
noskillz and mutiger from L&O developed it.  As for the sky and kittens, you got me :)
Parent - By Ankah Date 2006-06-30 11:57 AM
Hey, thanks for redirecting me. I had no idea. Not one of my peeps sent me an email! :mutmad:
Parent - By JGrey Date 2006-06-30 10:19 AM
Blue light is refracted more than the others by the atmosphere, so more blue light gets angled towards the earth, causing it to appear blue to our eyes... same reason things underwater appear more and more blue the deeper you go. Don't know about the kitty killing thing, though.  Not my job. : pbbt:

I might be missing for a while since I'll be at the lake a bunch where only super-slow dialup is available.  I know I've gotten spoiled with DSL, but the dialup there is so EXTRA slow, I can't stand it.  Lorilou will vouch for this.
Parent - By Flutopia [us] Date 2006-07-01 2:05 PM

FINALLY checking in.  Glug, glug.  Pulling myself up the beach, having read the rest of this thread.  And why thank you, I would love a drink.

There's something very wrong when I can't access a fairly innocuous looking site (this) but I can access the new incarnation of RW that shrieks "I'm not working!" to anyone with a view of my computer -- which would be most of my office.

Thanks to the ladies who have kept me company in my exile on the life raft.  I love you.

Working on circumventing the prohibitions -- our department computer guru, who's something of an iconoclast with little respect for senseless rules (sound familiar?) and I are going to put our heads together and see if it's a restriction on the PC (Internet Explorer settings, maybe, I'm no PC expert) or if it's companywide.  Or I may lie shamelessly and claim that I can't access some of our clients' sites so the firewall needs to be modified.  That's happened in the past.

So what did I miss whilst adrift?
Parent - By swandive [us] Date 2006-07-01 4:35 PM
Yay Tessa!  Glad you made it. :)  I see nothing wrong with shameless lying to join your friends.
Parent - By moonglow9 Date 2006-07-02 4:23 AM
Tessa! You're here! I've been wondering how you've been... so sorry that you can't get at this site while you are at work.  The firewall thing makes NO sense at all.  Here's hoping that you and the tech guru can work something out.  Have you tried using the Mozilla Firefox browser? Lol, I think its absolutely proper for you to have your firewall modified so you can see as many sites as needed.  After all, you've got to be there for the clients, right?
Parent - - By slowgirl Date 2006-07-02 11:18 AM
Nice to see you here!  Hope you & your rebel IT guy can work something out.

Didja notice you can adjust your settings, in "Options", to pick various colour schemes?  I've picked "Linijos" which is a lovely grey (grey is my favourite colour) which I happen to think makes the site look very "work-related" - plain, straightforward & efficient.  Not an avatar in sight.
Parent - By swandive [us] Date 2006-07-02 12:14 PM
Ooh, thanks for pointing that out.  I hadn't noticed the "change color" thing.  I really like Linijos as well.

I've been so happy to see the old emoticons back that I've been throwing them in at random.

Where is Pencils? I know she's been on the RW forum.
Parent - By magali [fr] Date 2006-07-03 2:12 AM
Pencils is around, she does post on the dailies here.
Parent - By DFWrunner [us] Date 2006-07-03 6:48 AM
DFW in da house.

I lurk on RW, I figured I might as well lurk here too.
Parent - - By nhwarrior [us] Date 2006-07-03 6:52 AM
Good Morning,
I decided to come out of lurking status...can I join you guys?  I will still post on RW but I really like all the people that migrated here.
Parent - - By moonglow9 Date 2006-07-03 6:53 AM
Of course! Forumites are good everywhere they can be found.
Parent - - By nhwarrior [us] Date 2006-07-03 6:55 AM
Thanks, I probably won't be posting on the dailies for a few weeks (wishfull thinking only a few weeks) I am due to have a baby in 3 weeks and then have to recover, so I am only walking right now...
Parent - By moonglow9 Date 2006-07-03 7:05 AM
Congrats to you! Hope you have a smooth delivery and quick recovery... and even if you don't post on the dailies, I'd love to chat on the NRR and other threads
Parent - By Ankah Date 2006-07-03 8:30 AM
Oh...I guess! Just kidding, of course you can post here!:wink:
It's so much fun here, I'm glad you're joining us!

Congrats, and best of luck with your new family-to-be! Wishing you all the best!

Here and enjoying the threaded version!

Howdy!  I'm here, too....

Zip's away with limited Internet access but she's really relieved the Escapee Forum came along.  RW's new format had her a smidge wigged.

I just found it SOOOO overwhelming!

Just bear with me while I figure out posting, I'm never good at this kind of thing and think I just posted an erroneous daily in response to Freps' radiation update.

Sorry!  (If it's any consolation, I can't figure out how to use the TV remote either.)
Parent - By moonglow9 Date 2006-07-03 11:14 AM
Thanks for the update on Zipper, and yes, it *is* a relief to have most of us in one place and settled again.  Moving is stressful! And no worries about the posting, it takes a bit of getting used to but always works out in the end. Glad to see you here
Parent - - By moonglow9 Date 2006-07-03 1:06 PM
Has anyone seen Autre (Katie)? She was around for a bit under a new name at RWOL, but haven't seen her here or on RT....
Parent - - By DaffodilRunner Date 2006-07-05 11:14 AM
I think she got directed here this morning
Parent - By moonglow9 Date 2006-07-05 12:29 PM
Thanks! Hope to see her soon

Here!  Does the German flag show?  K
Parent - By Arimathea [us] Date 2006-07-04 8:26 PM
It does.  I'm trying to figure out how to change mine to the Union Jack.
Parent - By smiling sara [us] Date 2006-07-05 7:05 PM
here!
thanks to a boat sent out this morning by Tessa.  (thanks!)
Parent - - By NotSoFast [us] Date 2006-07-06 7:07 AM
I'm here. But not running much lately due to impending doom - I mean 2nd boy. I am just not studly like a lot of you running 10Ks at 30 weeks. I'm almost down to walking and biking now.
Parent - - By smiling sara [us] Date 2006-07-06 10:35 AM
Nice to see you!
How are you feeling?
Parent - By NotSoFast [us] Date 2006-07-06 11:28 AM
Big, very, very big. You get big faster the 2nd time. It was a total surprise. Anyway, it is what it is and even though it throws a total wrench in life/career plans I'll love him just as much as the first.
Parent - By LuckyDog [us] Date 2006-07-06 7:22 AM
I'm here!  And thanks to Tessa for the lifeboat!
Parent - By Buggy [us] Date 2006-07-06 10:04 AM
Here! I changed my screen name, though. It seemed appropriate to acknowledge all my kids by referring to their contribution of my current mental state. : pbbt:

Hello, you negative bitches!   Hey Tessa, thanks for emailing me this link.  Good to see so many of you around here.
Parent - By NotSoFast [us] Date 2006-07-06 11:29 AM
Have you started the new job? Or is that September when it starts?

I hope there's room for newcomers here. I normally post on the RW PP thread (as imemine), and tend to lurk otherwise, but with a nine-month old I can't be hanging out in PP forever and I much prefer the look of these boards.
Parent - By freps Date 2006-07-06 11:00 PM
Yay!  Hooray!  You are proof that newbies will find their way here. We offer you a hearty welcome.  Dive in!
Parent - By moonglow9 Date 2006-07-07 4:51 AM
Of course! Newbies are always welcome - we love to meet people.  Jump on in!
Parent - By MetalChick Date 2006-07-07 4:37 PM
Always room!
Parent - - By mamarunner2 Date 2006-07-07 4:34 PM
Thanks to MetalChick, I found y'all!  I like this format.

I am a die-hard SAHM but thought I would check in here.

I have been giving it my all on RWOL but yes, it has a different feel.

Anyhoo,  I just wanted to say hi.
Parent - - By MetalChick Date 2006-07-07 4:37 PM
Welcome!

Welcome MR2 - maybe we should try to persuade the rest of the SAHM's to come to the dark side - what do you think?
Parent - - By mamarunner2 Date 2006-07-07 5:24 PM
NHW, it crossed my mind.  I say, let's give it a try.  Shall we propose it on Monday?

The only thing would be to make sure we don't lose steph or rttb...them being on hiatus.  But I think most of the other regulars have been around and should see it.

My vote is yes!
Parent - By MetalChick Date 2006-07-07 5:32 PM
You should definitely propose it. I've tried to get the ttc gals over here, but they aren't budging. They think it's going to get too stale over here without newcomers. I say it's already pretty stale over at RWOL.
Parent - By Annie Date 2006-07-07 5:03 PM
Guess I should check in too despite the fact that I've been posting all day
Parent - By Rio Date 2006-07-07 6:00 PM
OK, I'm delurking.  Thanks to MetalChick for the URL!

Very limited Internet access for now until we get our home computer hooked up.  We only moved about 2 months or so ago!

Good weekend to all!
Parent - By Autre [us] Date 2006-07-08 5:07 AM
Here here here!!!!  I'm really glad to have made it, thanks to Carolynn (sp?) for giving me the heads up over on RW.  Really glad the community has settled somewhere.  I was all moapy with my fiancee telling him the forums had been deserted.  It's great to 'see' everyone.

I can't believe someone actualy set this forum up, I knew we'd find our way back to threaded view somehow.
Parent - By jacqui [us] Date 2006-07-08 6:30 AM
I usually don't have much to contribute, but if I must I'm sure I could think of something to say once in a while.   I'm a much better lurker, and I'd rather lurk over here with all the cool people   Just wanted to say "Hi!"

Thanks to MetalChick putting the link on the boards yesterday, I finally found out where y'all went!!!

Even though I'm mostly lurking.... and not running.... heading to the orthopedic surgeon instead. Ugh!!

I've missed you guys!
