Who is interested in joining a mileage challenge for 2019?
Should be make any changes to things for the new year?
As was this case this year, 2019 will be a challenge for all of Runango with results reported on the L&O page.
The most common suggestion is to count miles recorded by our fitness bands/watches even if they are not miles incurred during active exercise. We tried to address that differentiation last year by offering a Step Challenge. I don't think we'll do the Step Challenge again in 2019 as there ultimately wasn't a lot of interest in it.
We could incorporate other sports - swimming, biking, etc. - but we've never come up with a very simple equivalence formula.
If there are other things you'd like to see - please speak up.
If you have suggestions - please post them.
If you are interested in participating in 2019, please indicate below. If there is sufficient interest, we'll put some teams together.
I'd say to put me down for 1400 miles in 2019.
I don't have a fitness tracker and don't do much swimming/biking, so I don't have any great suggestions for how to incorporate other non-running activities.

Great! You know how this works!
I'm interested in participating for the first time. Thanks for organizing!

Great! Look for the weekly threads over in L&O to report mileage totals
I'm interested! I finished 2018 with 1000 miles, which was my goal. This is down from my high of 1600 miles back in 2015, when I was still doing marathons. (Have not attempted any more since I fractured my patella in 2016.
) My mileage count ended in October of 2016 for that year, and I ended up with 750. Ran about the same in 2017, but managed to hit 1000 in 2018!
I am trying for 1200 this year, which will be a challenge given my ongoing knee issues and my crazy (but awesome) new job!
Kay, great to see you! Are you teaching in public school now?

Yes, I am! Will fill you in when I have a minute! Back at the school where I started teaching in the early 2000s.
