I know that it's a little early for this but I signed up for a race yesterday and since Runango is all about me...

So far my definite races are...

Late April - Crazylegs Classic 8k (Madison WI) - This one's a tradition. It will be the 23rd year in a row that my dad and I will run it together.

May 11th - Ice Age 50k (La Grange WI) - I signed up for this one yesterday. It was my first trail ultra back in 2001 (?). It was a pretty low key event back then and I think that you could even register the day of. Now it sells out within minutes. This will be my eighth time there (two 50 miles and six 50ks). Once you have run 9 Ice Age events you get access to registration a day early. I look forward to being one of those old timers soon.

June 29th - Titletown Ultra 6 or 8 hour - I ran the 6 hour this year and really enjoyed it. I'm deciding on whether I want to run the 6 hr again and try to better my 30.3 mile distance (it was H-O-T this year and I know I could do better if it were even a bit cooler) or the 8 hour for a new challenge. I'm leaning toward the 6hr right now.

Other than that I'm not sure. Thinking of maybe running the Trailbreaker half or full marathon in April as a motivator to run more in the winter and a build up for Ice Age. Haven't thought out into the fall yet but plan on running something then.

The wife and I are getting another team together for the Seneca7, a 77.7-mile relay race around Seneca Lake which was super fun last year.

The Utica Boilermaker 15K is of course on my list; this will be my 19th year running it.

We will also do the Pete Glavin Cross Country series in the fall with our team, as we do every year.

Other than that, we don't really have anything planned. If training goes well for us this winter we will consider some marathons, but after the carnage that was Vermont City earlier this year, neither of us want to run another marathon on sub-par training.

Jan 5 - New Years One Day (RD couldn't get the permit for New Years Eve so he pushed it to the following weekend), not sure which time I will take part in. It will either be the 6 or 12 hour & 6 is most likely.

Mar 24 - Oakland Marathon / This is the tenth year & I've run the other nine. Will likely be my last one due to my dislike of the new course.

Jul 4 - Alameda R.A.C.E. 5K / I believe it will be the seventeenth year and I've run the previous sixteen.

That is it for races I will certainly do. There will likely be others, mostly shorter distance stuff next year.

Anyone looking at Eugene in April?
- - By Beastie Girl [us] Date 2018-12-03 10:30 AM
It's never too early for this!

My definite 2019 races:
Jan. 1: First Day 5k in my town. Hopefully beat the 11-year-old that has outkicked me the last 2 years.

Jan-Feb: PCTI Winter 5k Series in Wayne, NJ. DH and I ran it last year (this year?) at the behest of our coach, and I won my AG! Ok, there were only 2 of us in my AG because the series was small, it was in its first year coming back after having been dormant for a few years. Hilly 5k course and very cold conditions, and I ran each race the day after a long marathon training run. It was pretty horrible but I'm looking forward to it again this year!

March ?: St. Patrick's Day 5k in my town on the same course as the First Day 5k. Hopefully place in my AG for the 3rd year in a row! No pesky 11-year-old outkicking me in this particular race.

March 23: Savin Rock Marathon in West Haven, CT. It looks like a small race, and the marathon is 2 loops of the half marathon course. DH found this race while looking for a late winter marathon within driving distance in a state he doesn't have yet.

May 5: Providence Marathon in Providence, RI. DH picked this one to check another state off his list.

August 24: Quantico Triathlon in Quantico, VA. This has become a family tradition for me and my brother. DH did it last year for the first time, and I think he wants to go back again.

September 14-15: RTB 200-mile relay all over NH. 17th year for the Fellowship of the Bubblewrap! :shocker!:

October ?: MCM in DC/VA. I am back for the full marathon!

DH and I are mulling over other marathons, but we need to see how much we owe in taxes before we make any serious travel plans in the new year. The idea is to fly out west, run a marathon, and then drive back to NJ again but take a different route than we did this year.

I'd be tempted to go back to Providence next year. That was a nice race. Additionally, there are two amazing doughnut shops in Providence. #research

Da dum….but seriously folks....Definitely my little Wild Horse Ultra again https://www.pacetrailseries.com/wild-horse.html   on June 1st  and then hopefully another the first weekend-ish in October Wandering Moose https://www.pacetrailseries.com/wandering-moose.html ….and maybe a stupid 10km locally in April that won't allow Molly so I may give it a miss

So - I usually only do a few for sure races each year and then if I feel like throwing one in, I will. But this coming year I've added a couple already that I don't usually do.

January 12th - Hotcake Hustle - 5k
January 26th - Mississippi Blues Marathon - Half
February 23rd - Cowtown Marathon - 10k
March 16th - Dash Down Greenville - 5k
July - RAGBRAI - obviously not a race, but it's a week of biking
Sept 21st - Spa Girl Tri - Duathlon

Currently registered for these races:

May 6: Kalamazoo Marathon
June 2: Covered Bridges Half Marathon (this will be something like 12 or 13 in a row, and maybe 18 total for this race; best perk of being a valued customer is that I'm already registered for next year  but general registration opens this evening)
Sept: RTB

Started registering for Baltimore for next October because I thought there was a Cyber Monday discount last week, but it turned out that there wasn't. I'll finish that registration at some point before the fee goes up early next year. Still need to figure out Hawaii and Wyoming. I may jump into two or three marathons next year beyond that, but I'll play that by ear.
Parent - - By skigirl Date 2018-12-03 1:39 PM
I did the half in Kalamazoo a few years ago, with four or five forumites from Women's.  It was a really pretty course.   Do you need Maryland for your 50-state goal?
Parent - - By Doughboy (spamkiller) Date 2018-12-03 1:43 PM
I have four left: Michigan, Hawaii, Wyoming, and Maryland. Figuring out the Hawaii situation is going to be a massive hurdle.

I really want to wrap this up in 2019, but I may end up waiting til Jan 2020.

Hmm, maybe I should start planning now...
Parent - - By nooner [us] Date 2018-12-04 10:45 AM
There was a 25% discount on Baltimore on 12/1 and 20% on the 2nd and 3rd. It’s 15% off until December 12. It’s hard to say if there will be other discounts offered at a later time. There is no code needed for registration, it’s just showing the lower rate.
Parent - By Doughboy (spamkiller) Date 2018-12-06 9:36 AM
I totally missed that. When I started to check out and pay for the registration, no discount came up and I couldn't find a reference anywhere to a discount (and this was on 12/3). I will sign up before 12/15, I guess. The 15% is something!
Parent - - By AgelessDave Date 2018-12-04 11:37 AM
Are you definitely running Baltimore this year? That can provide me motivation for a race of choice. I have run that one previously as a relay participant but would be up for trying it.
Parent - By Doughboy (spamkiller) Date 2018-12-05 8:44 AM
I'm 99% sure I'll be doing Baltimore in 2019.
- - By skigirl Date 2018-12-03 1:45 PM
I have already signed up for the Blue Nose half-marathon in Halifax, Nova Scotia, next June.  I am working on a goal of completing a half in every province, and I only have Nova Scotia, PEI and Newfoundland left, so this will tick a box, and the training will help me be ready for summer hiking season in the mountains.

Parent - By skigirl Date 2018-12-03 11:17 PM
I’m only doing provinces, not territories.
- By blazer85 [us] Date 2018-12-03 4:44 PM
All I know for sure is:

Allen NYD 5K on 1/1
Zoom! Yah! Yah! Marathon on 1/5
Frisco 15K Trail Run sometime in February

Alaska is hopefully going to get checked off the list and I would like to do either Anchorage in June or Juneau in July.....after last week's massive earthquake, I am leaning towards Juneau.

I will hopefully do two other marathons in two of 13 other states.
- - By rob26.2 Date 2018-12-04 8:04 AM
Boston in April.

I really want to do a marathon in late Jan, Feb or early March but my weekends are pretty full of other stuff already. My fall-back is a marathon in SW Kansas on March 23.

I want to do the South Bend marathon in June. That would be an easy sell to Mrs. Rob as we can go and visit our son.

Nuttin' yet for the fall
Parent - - By Beastie Girl [us] Date 2018-12-04 10:06 AM
Is the South Bend marathon the Sunburst race? https://runsignup.com/Race/IN/SouthBend/SunburstRaces

It doesn't look like there is a marathon option?
Parent - - By The Beard (is wearing Arm Panties) [us] Date 2018-12-04 10:17 AM
They dropped the marathon distance this year

My wife and I ran the marathon back in 2003 (I think). It was a boring course.
Parent - - By rob26.2 Date 2018-12-04 10:31 AM
Crap! I ran it in 2016 when the stadium was being renovated. I wanted to finish in the stadium. :mutmad:  Sorry Son, I guess we won't be visiting.

I'm already signed up for Kalamazoo.
Parent - By rob26.2 Date 2018-12-04 4:40 PM
Since I am running Boston, I will probably wait until late April before I decide. Usually my legs are pretty beat up after Boston.  Hopefully Kalamazoo doesn't sell out.

Hot Chocolate 15K in January
Kaiser Half on Superbowl Sunday.
I've got a conflict with Big Sur weekend this year so my goal is the Dipsea Cycle.

Single in June
Double in June
Quad in November

But that entails getting very fit and getting into three sold-out races. Hopefully I can make it happen
Parent - By jennyO Date 2018-12-07 6:46 PM
That's an awesome goal!  Heck, maybe I'll come run the Quad, too.  It's been about 12 years since I've felt like doing it.
- - By indie [us] Date 2018-12-05 8:34 AM
Chicago Oct 13th. Because I am hellbent on breaking the October marathon jinx or maybe delusional. And 13th should be lucky. :p  The goal is somewhat half-assed training which should reduce the chance of pre-race injury and then hopefully jog/walk or whatever to the finish.

I am signed up for some March 1/2 marathon because it was cheap. :p Don't quite remember the name or date.

May 11: Brookings Half Marathon: An excuse to visit some of the wife's friends in South Dakota.  Win and sub 1:15 gets me $200.00

May 18: Birdtown Half Marathon: 4th year I'd run this. Hope for another win. $200.00

May 27: Brian Kraft 5k: Maybe shoot for sub 16 again

July 24: Torchlight 5k: Maybe. Two years in a row of a course screw up I'm not positive I want to run it again

I'll probably shoot for another fall half marathon
Parent - - By prairierunner [us] Date 2018-12-06 5:48 PM
My DH and I run the Brookings Half damn near every year.  It's an easy, sweet little course -- lots of volunteers, but the course can be VERY lonely in places.  Your cheering section can easily follow you throughout the course.  Nice swag, too.

Parent - By foggydoggy [us] Date 2018-12-07 1:42 PM
I used to live near Brookings.  I'd bet on you for the win unless SDSU's track coach still races or unless all the fast Minnesotans take advantage of their proximity to a state with no people.  Rod DeHaven is the only Olympian I've ever "raced."  He damn near lapped me in a high school MILE race.
- - By nooner [us] Date 2018-12-06 9:28 AM
3/2 - Little Rock Marathon
4/27 - Revel Mt Charleston Marathon (outside of Las Vegas)
6/1 - Utah Vally Marathon
9/13-14 - Reach the Beach Relay
10/6 - Nipmuck Trail Marathon
10/27 - Loco Marathon (New Hampshire)
Parent - By Doughboy (spamkiller) Date 2018-12-06 9:34 AM
I will cheer you on at Nipmuck but will never run that again. Like ever.
Parent - - By Schantzie [us] Date 2018-12-06 9:44 AM
I ran Loco Marathon in New Hampshire.  Loved it except, BE WARNED:  it's a 2-loop course, and the last 5K of each loop goes onto a trail.  Sounds idyllic, but it isn't if your legs are tired and you don't pick up your feet, in which case, you will stub you toe repeatedly on stones that may have been marked with spray paint, but are now obscured by autumn leaves :shocker!:.  You probably won't fall (hey, if I didn't, no one will) but you'll have to slow down and watch your feet!!  Very nice, no frills race otherwise
Parent - By nooner [us] Date 2018-12-06 1:16 PM
I really should have come and done this the year you ran, but I really liked your description and neither the double loop or trail portions are a worry.
- By jennyO Date 2018-12-07 6:48 PM
I've got a little race in June that goes from Squaw Valley to Auburn, California. :shocker!::grin:

Before that, possibly Fort Ord 50k in February, Marin Ultra Challenge 50-mile in March, and Connemara Ultra in Ireland in April.

After that, ... who cares?!
