I hear you, I had curry last night. Made it three miles before I decided a stop at the park porttos would be wise- but there was no TP!
Seriously?! So I kept going. Slowed down a bit, but made it home without an epic tragedy. Phew!
I never, EVER run without TP on me. Never. Ever.
I've never thought of that.
Individually wrapped Wet Wipes for this runner
You really should run ultras! You've got the instincts!
I used to always be prepared, but I've really gotten out of the loop! I felt so stupid!
2018-10-30 3:41 PM
how do you keep it from getting sweaty? zip-lock bag pinned to your shorts?
Yesterday, I was at a luncheon which served a tasty side dish white & lima beans. I did not dare eat more than a few spoonfuls and this morning, regretted eating the small amount I did consume. Two, different sets of bushes were visited on my run.
Yeah, beans and I, we're frenemies.
2018-10-30 3:42 PM
I love beans so much!
yup. thankful there are porto potties around!
Hit up some more new roads from work. Got some really good hills in and met a friendly biker who told me that these hills were "small" compared to the 800-foot monsters in the Finger Lakes. Sunny and 50 degrees; perfect running weather!
Eh, I've run the Can Lake 50K and grew up in WNY- hills, yes, but not monsters.
6.2 "conversational pace" miles this morning, felt pretty good except I really wish I hadn't had shrimp curry for dinner last night.
But at the time, it was rather delicious. There's a little family-run Caribbean cafe near my house, Philip loves the oxtail stew, so we go there occasionally. The owners' young son was not a happy camper last night, he looked about 4 or 5. Poor little guy was tired and crabby.
Omg, whole milk yogurt, where have you been all my life?
I've been getting the fat free yogurt when I buy yogurt for the family, and I ate it only rarely- just not a fan. Switch to full fat yogurt this morning, with fruit and granola- amazing!
Some things are not meant to be fat free, yogurt is one of them.
Full fat yoghurt is a beautiful thing.
2018-10-30 10:17 AM
Full-fat yogurt is the best. I have it for lunch usually five days a week (yogurt, fruit, and homemade granola).
fat free yogurt is just gross. I do not understand why it even exists.
HA! Yes, full fat yogurt is the best!
2018-10-30 3:42 PM
full fat most things are delicious! I'm looking at you butter!
my wife makes yogurt at home from full fat organic whole milk......you should try that!
I really want to get an instant just for this!
Slept horrible last night because of work stress and really did not want to get up at 4:30 when the alarm went off. (I was having a dream about Jim from The Office
) But, I was meeting two skinny blondes, so I got up. My IT band has been wonky, so I foam rolled both before and after my 10 miler. Who knew that would be so helpful?
Why don't I do this on a regular basis? I will go to boxing class tonight.
I am dressed for casual Friday on this non-casual Tuesday and really don't give a fkkk. I am listening to podcast series called Articles of Interest. Each episode (18-25 miutes long....perfect for my commute) speaks to the history of some facet of clothing/fashion. On today's drive in, I could not believe how fascinated I was learning the history of pockets in clothes!
That's a fantastic podcast series, and the episode on pockets was one of the best, in my opinion.
I'm sorry to hear you're still having so much work stress.
I think everybody in the world has that experience with foam rollering - oh, it hurts, but oh, it works!
Given all the horrible news which seems to snowball every hour, I am finding great delight in that podcast! It is mindless but interesting and she is a wonderful host.
2018-10-30 10:20 AM
I got to sleep pretty late last night but managed to get up earlier than usual this morning.
That podcast sounds pretty great!
I worry that at some point after this (hopefully sooner rather than later), I might end up working in a more professional environment than the one I now work in. I wore shorts to work pretty much every day from late May til mid September, and no one said a word.
that podcast sounds good, and would be a nice break from the shithole of the news.
Foam rolling is da bomb.
The training plan I'm using actually calls for it on certain days, which is the only reason I remember to do it.
But yeah, very helpful.
2018-10-30 3:42 PM
that sounds like a fun podcast, I don't listen a lot but usually crime ones. I'll try to remember this one
I saw the original in the theater back in 1969. If you missed that
click here---> If it's Tuesday, this must be Belgium
Did core, hip & shoulder exercises at the gym & then swam 1200 meters. Cut 400M off my usual swim distance as my bad left knee has been acting up a bit so I didn't want to overdo it with double spin classes to teach tomorrow.
Hope your knee feels better!
Double spin! How many students stick around for both classes?
2018-10-30 5:29 PM
6:00am and 6:30 pm so...NONE!
The 6:30pm class isn't mine, I'm subbing for another instructor who has been out last week & this week. Same class profile & playlist.
2018-10-30 3:43 PM
are you doubles back to back or do you have a break between?
2018-10-30 5:30 PM
No, 1st & last class of the day...6:00am & 6:30pm. So, 11.5 hour break!
2018-10-30 10:16 AM
11 mi this morning. Pretty nice weather-wise.
I had a mildly spicy dinner last night, falafel with spicy eggplant and tzatziki, but no ensuing stomach issues. No one in the fam likes our new hummus and pita place but me, so I went there before going to see First Man. Then home in time to watch the 15th-anniversary Wicked special, which was pretty awesome.
that sounds like a perfect evening to me.
How was First Man?
Nice you could treat yourself without making the rest of the family suffer
Your dinner sounds good!
Love me some tzatziki! My mom used to make it.
When's Hamilton? I'm so excited for you!
2018-10-30 3:43 PM
your dinner sounds like I wish I had been invited

16.5 regular gallo-miles on my gravel road route: 9:43/mi pace avg
Hoka Clifton 4(c)
More tonight with the group, I hope at least 5.5 - 6 miles
tried listening to NPR's Morning Edition, but the interviews w/ Trump supporters at Continental Nail in Youngstown, OH convinced me to listen to a shuffled mix of music instead.
That's a lot of miles!! Hope the group run is good!
2018-10-30 3:44 PM
hope you get your miles tonight.

6.7 miles this morning. How is it only Tuesday! this week just feels like it should already be friday. I am just wiped out.
I have these new New Balance shoes that have some kind of clicky-dial thing for the laces, I like it. And I love that it won't get untied, we will see if it actually manages to not break before I wear out the shoes.
This morning I finally went and got my blood tested and shipped off for potential kidney donation. It has to be done in the morning on a M T or W and the past few weeks have just been so hectic I haven't had a chance. Anyway, I did it, and hopefully will hear something soon. I know I have said it before but the process is just so weird.
It might rain tomorrow. I really hope not I have hundreds offices of candy to give out!
I missed the kidney donation news. Is this someone you know? A friend of mine donated this past year to her cousin, and things went very well. It is a courageous decision.
it is for my dad's cousin.
Funny, I was thinking about going to try some New Balance shoes. I have one pair of shoes that I constantly have to tie.
Nice on the kidney donation attempt!
If you are a match, I know several people who are living donors (one a kidney, one part of a liver) if you wanted to ask them anything.
Thanks. I have a few resources also. First I have to see if I am a match, hopefully we will find out soon and I can determine what I do next...
2018-10-30 3:44 PM
it was hella windy this morning. and I'm not looking forward to the yuck tomorrow.
good luck with the donation. I hope you get the news you want quickly
7 miles this morning at Saddle River County Park, perfect weather, then took my Dad to breakfast at a new place i wanted to try. I'm off from work this week so have lots of time to do stuff like that.
Perfect weather; breakfast with your dad; a week off work - all very good things
You were in my hood!
I drive through your hood almost everyday since my Fedex route starts in that shitty area of Paterson you ran into by mistake a couple months ago. If you ever need someone to navigate you through that hell hole, I’m your guy, I know the city inside out, sorry to say.
I guess you won't be offering tours of Paterson any time soon?
Sounds like a nice morning!
2018-10-30 3:44 PM
but what did you have for breakfast?
3 eggs extra crisp bacon home fries multi grain toast side of pancakes 2 cups green tea, I was hungry
4.5 miles today. It's a bad sign when 2 miles into the workout you start fantasizing about how good it's gonna be to spend some quality time on a foam roller when you're done.
Planned to plant some spring bulbs today, but the grandbaby has an audiology appointment, so I brought the kids' goofy golden over so she won't be lonely while they're gone. She's maybe 18 months old, so not technically a puppy, but I know the first scoop of dirt will have her losing her shit trying to "help."
HA! lose her shit trying to help... that made me laugh!
2018-10-30 3:45 PM
how many bulbs will you plant?
65 total. only got 8 done so far, with a great deal of shade from Jolene, the Golden
I didn't know you have a granddog too!
yes! I know the feeling. I hope the foam roller helped
3 miles this morning, swim after work (plan for longish swim, probably 400 m ladder).
Puppy was up to do his business at 4 am, second night in the row. he really needs to go back to his old schedule when he sleeps through the night.
2018-10-30 3:45 PM
ugh - I don't miss those days when Parker was an old girl
Tried something different today......6.5km running with you know who.....then 45 minutes at the river fetching sticks and enjoying the morning.....then 6.5km back home.
Last evening Molly went mental looking out the bedroom window as a young grizzly whacked my "Tumbling Composter". Pretty cool how he got it on the ground and pulled the little
sliding door open and ate a bunch a recent delectables. Not so cool trying to put it back up this morning ....but we did and no damage to me or the composter.
I hate Costco but I think this is the one I have (it was a gift so I don't know for sure)https://www.costco.ca/170-L-Tumbling-Composter.product.10367344.html
That makes me miss the bears raiding the dumpsters at my old apartment complex and then some other bears stealing the bird feeders right outside my last house.
It does not make me miss being trapped inside because of said bears though.
why do you hate costco?
I've only been there 3 times in my life.....I can handle the idea of having to show your "membership" etc....but on the way out I think it's very annoying how you walk from the check out about 20 feet and some bozo wants to check your receipt versus what is in your cart. Is this how you treat members? I'm not a member of WalMart (another place I try to avoid) and they thank me after buying their stuff and let me walk right out with my cart.
Actually in the bigger picture I just find the mass of humanity flocking to these big box type stores soul destroying.
I will say the 2nd time I ever went was just to the liquor store section and was quite pleased with the bargains I purchased.
(I also understand families who can buy 100 pounds of laundry soap etc and save a few bucks because they do tons of laundry....as I recently bought 100 pounds of dog food because it was a good deal but I'm just as comfortable not going there and paying a little more to avoid the humans)
Did you ever see the movie (documentary
)"Idiocracy?" The Costco is an entire mega-city...
No...but I'll try and see if I can get it on Canadian Netflix
When I first saw it, I thought it was so stupid. Flash forward a few years, and it's freakin' brilliant. In a very sad way.
I saw the trailer and it did look lame but I'm willing to give it a chance
Gotcha. No big deal, we can still be friends.
If your family went to Costco and I was allowed to come along I could be the wacky grumpy uncle
we do get the big box of tide! I also get cashews!
You've been in one 2 more times than me! We don't have one, but I went once with Arimathea in Vegas.
but I feel similarly about Sams. I give the Waltons enough of my $$$. I don't need to give them any more
I've never bought a Waltons dvd but I'm familiar with the characters.
Good night PoopedColt
Maybe just leave the bear a plate?
I know that you're joking but if you leave actual attractants around you get in heck!
2018-10-30 3:46 PM
we are working at wearing out the foster by playing fetch in the backyard for about 25 minutes. it's amazing the difference when she comes back in the house
Yeah....I notice it so much when Molly doesn't get much running....I thought she must be kind of bored without her dog buddies and just running so the river fetch seemed well received!
2018-10-30 1:46 PM
I watched the first episode the other night while mbarney was watching football - he came in towards the end and half watched. his reaction "yeah, I'm not going to be able to watch this"
I didn't ask you to scaredy cat!
It’s well done, I’ll give them that!
I decided to be crazy and run 3 miles while Brett had tennis.
DH wants me to watch that. So far, I'm declining.
It's good though. Ends up being more about family than just a spooky story. Great writing in the last episode. I finished it last weekend.
I think I read something about needing Kleenex?
Yeah. The character Nell has a bit in the last episode about what "time" is..
Is it over or will there be another season?
I'm not sure. Seemed like maybe a one season thing.
5 miles at noon.
Very nice weather but we have a tv screen in the elevator in the building that shows the temperature on rotation. As I was going down to the fitness center it showed 54 for the temp which was lower than the low 60’s I expected. The tv feed is often wrong so I tried to pull up weather on my phone once I got to the fitness center but service down there is spotty so it was taking forever and I needed to get going. Long story short, at one of our first traffic light stops, I noticed that my access card to get back into the fitness center wasn’t in my pocket. There were some people working out when I got back and they let me in and I was glad to find my access card in my pants pocket in my locker. I’ve already used up my 1 free replacement and have paid the $25 fee for a new card at least twice already.
Glad you were able to get in!
You should get your company health insurance to cover the replacement card fees!
2018-10-30 3:46 PM
so was it 54 or in the low 60s?
I thought our PF gave out unlimited replacement cards? In any case, I'm glad you found it!
No workout yet today. Cranky ankle this morning from 10k on Sunday then being on my feet all day spectating after that. More on that when I have more time to post, great MCM weekend all around!
Sounds like a fun weekend!
2018-10-30 1:48 PM
4 miles and .01
1.5 miles with Benji, 1.5 miles with Lovey and then .51 by myself
we saw 5 walkers, 2 runners and 2 doggos (2 of the walkers I saw twice as I was doing a loop - and they probably got a little confused seeing me with a small white dog and then a big fawn pit bull)
I hear you! I get looks when I walk my big standard poodle with my evil little chihuahua.
On Sunday, my friend and I were doing our long run... we saw a dude with a boxer and then a bit later we saw him with another little black dog. He said they don't behave together.
At UVA today for a class. Had to leave at 5am so no morning workout. But, we got out early so I did my run here before I will head home. In general, I hate running new places and especially in daylight. I feel like an Amazon oaf lumbering down the road weighing 100 pounds heavier than normal. That being said, it is a pretty fall day and I enjoyed the first 30 min ok. But I pass more pedestrians in 5 min here than I do in a year at home. It was cool for 30 min and then got annoying.
7 miles felt like 12. i did wind up stopping at the Rotunda for pics and the bookstore for a decal for DS2 and carried it back the final bit. DS2 is turning in his application here tomorrow. Eeks. This one is tough. His other ones he's at or well above the 75% score wise. Here, he's a bit over 50%. Pessimist me likes better odds. But he got the HS nomination for their big scholarship (1-2 per VA HS school) and another $15K one for leadership here (one per VA HS nominated). He has a slim to none for actually getting the scholarships, but I'm hoping it helps make him stand out a bit. I'm not sure if it's #1 or 2 choice. It keeps changing. Lol. I had better head home now. Chex mix for dinner. And diet Coke of course
An Amazon oaf? I thought Amazons were awesome warrior princesses?
Good luck to DS!
Well. Think of me as the mutant child they locked in the dungeon
Mutants don't do 7 miles- unless you're one of the X-men, which makes you a superhero mutant!
I'm not gonna win this, am I?
ok. I can be "the Thing!"
3.5 on the treadmill at the Y, which felt very hard and was very slow. I've had some health and work issues and wasn't working out and got back up to 196- back to 193 and have 6.75 miles in this week. Maybe I can get it back together.
Thinking about ya!
