What is everyone doing today?
Parent - - By runningteach [us] Date 2018-09-20 5:16 AM
I got up earlier, so I have time to post. I like when I have more time in the morning. It is dark outside now and I have to start wearing my headlamp. It needs batteries. I ran and took a short walk break. Hoping to cut the walk break by the weekend and then I will slowly add more distance.

Darker in the mornings. Yes. I miss the light.
Is your headlamp very heavy?
Great work on the running. Slooooowwwwly adding distance helps a lot. : pbbt:

It's light and I stick it around my visor.

I already miss the longer daylight. My favorite thing about summer.
Parent - By swandive [us] Date 2018-09-20 6:11 AM
Nice job getting out there early.
Parent - - By newfmrs Date 2018-09-20 8:26 AM
What time are you running that it's dark out already?  Good luck w/ cutting the walk break and adding distance
Parent - By runningteach [us] Date 2018-09-20 3:42 PM
Around 5:30-45 I start.

Wednesday I got a late start but got in a good 30 minute run out the trail. Asphalt trails can get slippery with leaves falling on them. We had an early morning thunderstorm and that tends to make the trail a tad mushy. As I ran over the river bridge, I looked down where the beavers build their dams and there was a tall, dignified great blue heron perched. It was so majestic!

Today I plan a trail run and then grocery shopping. I need sandwich fixings for lunch at classes. We are allowed to eat during class. However, someone needs to bash these little old men who rattle bags of chips overly much. DC and I will do volunteer work today.
Happy runs, All!

 I would think you just found the reason why eating in class is not allowed in most cases!

Maybe you could suggest yogurt, bananas and other quieter foods?

Beaver dams and a heron?  Cool!
Parent - By newfmrs Date 2018-09-20 8:27 AM
Those bags are noisy.  Leaves falling already :shocker!:.  But yes, if they're wet at all they are slippery.

What classs are you taking?
Parent - - By noquitter [us] Date 2018-09-20 5:31 AM
I ran 4 last night but afterwards my legs were rather sore. Pace not the best either so I think I still have some recovering to do after my race. I hope to run tonight after a long day at work.  We'll see if my body will cooperate.  I am not going to force it. :meh:
Parent - - By swandive [us] Date 2018-09-20 6:25 AM
You are probably the only one who is surprised that your legs are sore after a race.
Parent - By noquitter [us] Date 2018-09-20 6:17 PM
Isn't that funny? I wouldn't think twice about it if someone told me their legs were sore after running a race, but my own legs I can't believe it. :shocker!::laugh:
Parent - By newfmrs Date 2018-09-20 8:28 AM
I'm not surprised that they are still sore!  Hope things cooperate tonight.
Parent - By runningteach [us] Date 2018-09-20 3:43 PM
Rest and easy running are good for recovery.
Parent - By judyruns Date 2018-09-20 5:09 PM
Rest and recovery are part of training.

Walking - so tired of just walking. I have a dr. appt next week to assess my foot. Not sure it feels better than it did 3 weeks ago sometimes it hurts worse. He said it might hurt more as it heals. But its not run ready yet for sure.
Parent - By swandive [us] Date 2018-09-20 6:23 AM
Walking when you're used to running feels incredibly slow, but at least you are still moving forward.  I'm sorry that your foot is still hurting.
Parent - By newfmrs Date 2018-09-20 8:28 AM
Sorry about the foot.  Hope it is healing well though.
Parent - By runningteach [us] Date 2018-09-20 3:44 PM
I hope it heals soon. I didn't even walk when I broke my toe and it took about 5 weeks to feel better. Sometimes now I can feel it.
Parent - By judyruns Date 2018-09-20 5:12 PM
I sure understand the tired of just walking. Remember though, that does help healing of the injury without adding more injury. My short legs never seem to get anywhere when I have to walk.
Parent - By noquitter [us] Date 2018-09-20 6:18 PM
I hope your foot can be fixed.

Up way too early this morning.  The alarm went off at 10 past four and I was out the door 12 minutes later.  I ran 5.2, but it wasn't very fast as I was still half asleep for a good portion of the run.  I got home and was took a shower then left with A at 6:15, which is not actually early enough to beat rush hour traffic.  We are now hanging out at interventional radiology.

What a fun morning!  How long will you be there today.  People just don't know how hard it is to have someone you have to take to many, many appointments/evaluations/etc.  A is fortunate to have you around to do it.
Parent - By swandive [us] Date 2018-09-20 9:01 AM
No telling how long we'll end up being here.  Procedure was scheduled for 9, so we had to be here at 7:30.  They were "running on time," so they took her back for the procedure at 10:15. By the time they do the procedure and keep her in recovery for a while, we'd be doing very well to get out of here by noon -- I'm betting it will be later -- then it's an hour's drive to get back home.

I hope you got home early. You are a wonderful sister.
Parent - By judyruns Date 2018-09-20 5:13 PM
+1
Great work on the 5.2 miler!
Parent - By noquitter [us] Date 2018-09-20 6:18 PM
That's an impressive speed at getting out the door if nothing else.
Parent - By kelly_v Date 2018-09-21 7:37 AM
6:15 doesn't beat rush hour? yikes
Parent - - By newfmrs Date 2018-09-20 8:32 AM
Ran today.  Didn't feel as good as Tues but a lot better than Mon so I"ll take it.  Only 82 degrees at the start today .  I also added about 4 mins to the run to call it my "long" run.  I will plan to add a few minutes to a run each week and I'm hoping in a month or so I can just add a mile to my long run.  We'll see what life throws at me to have that plan not work out.  I also walked about a mile afterwards.  I plan to do some household chores and maybe hit the pool.  I'll eventually swim laps (not today).  Not ready for it yet.

Do you feel like you have adjusted to the heat down there?
Parent - By noquitter [us] Date 2018-09-20 6:19 PM
Good job on increasing the running intervals.
