Better late then never I suppose.

I have no topic. Feel free to post random blathering and/or usual stuff.

Typical planet of fitness routine at lunch. I might go run 5 or 6 on the trail after work but then again I might not. Maybe take the Lady for a walk instead.

Blathering.

We have these disgusting bugs called spotted red lantern flies in our area. They are one of those pestilence creatures that hitchhiked over from Asia during some global commerce episode. They are so annoying, buzzing around are front and backyard. We've killed hundreds of them this past week, multiple hundreds, and have went through 4 fly swatters. They are easy to kill but they seem to replicate themselves. Kill one, two more show up in the next minute.

So Ultrasignup has a (new?) policy that if a race doesn't have ten finishers in a particular distance you get a "No Rank Finish". I am not pleased with this policy.

I've neither any kind of workout or blather. Rested today except for the daily morning core stuff, and my most exciting moment was eating a hamburger for lunch.

13km Molly, me and friends

My plans to get a puppy have sadly passed. I was expecting a birthday Aug 13 but momma had an emergency C-section and there were complications.  The whole litter didn't make it.

I work tomorrow so I took this morning off. My wife and I ran 6.5 miles on the Camrock Trails. It was pretty sloppy after the rain we got yesterday.

I’d say that I’m back to 97%.

15 mile bike this morning before work. 1000-1250 yard swim after work.

I got some sad news that a former colleague fell ill very quickly and only has a matter of days to live. Someone posted his phone number so people can text him, since we were told he would like to hear from former colleagues. I haven't spoken to this guy in over 10 years, but I texted him with a "hey, heard you would like to hear from old colleagues" and "I am thinking of you and praying for you and your family." What the heck do you say at a time like this? I wasn't particularly close to this guy, but this has hit me really hard today.

 What you texted sounds totally fine.
Parent - By old turtle Date 2018-08-10 4:01 PM
I'm sure he was glad to get your text. So sorry to hear this.

That is so sad, and what you texted seems appropriate.  Something similar happened to two of DH's former co-workers. And really, what can you say? So tragic

17 miles. I moved my long run to today so tomorrow morning I am free to go fishing.
Parent - By old turtle Date 2018-08-10 4:01 PM
Enjoy the fishing.

I did the usual core, hip & shoulder exercises and swam 1600 meters.

A couple of running friends and I planned a 60 mile + or - bike ride tomorrow but have cancelled due to the prediction of storms   2nd time the 3 of us planned a ride & cancelled due to a forecast...of course no storms materialized the day of the first one

I'd like to watch the Phillies game tonight but they are in San Diego so the odds of me staying awake until even the first pitch at 10 pm EDT are slim, very slim : pbbt:

Happy Friday,

6 miles on the trails.   Wow just bonked on this run for some reason - just no energy or zip.   I have one of these once in a while and it was very warm/humid.   I did the run/walk thing towards the end.

No blather but it just seemed like a really long week at work.

went hiking w/ mrbarney, the barneykids, mrbarney's brother & sister & all the nieces and nephew in the Byrne Milliron Park out in CA. It was very steep and there was poison oak or sumac bordering every side of the trail. I have never walked more gingerly in my life.
