I love longer runs on the weekend.

Nice! It was a gorgeous day here, too. 11 miles on the appalachian trail, sans wife. This was in the northern mountains section and the overlook over the Cumberland Valley was especially incredible with pure blue skies and clean clear air.

That sounds like a nice run (the location not because of the “sans wife” part.

We biked with our son and one of his friends to a beach and an ice cream shop this afternoon. The ice cream likely cancels out the 8 miles of biking.

That's really cool you can run with your wife.

3 mile warmup
Utica Boilermaker 15K - 56:06. Beat my goal of 56:37 (the average of my last 12 Boilermakers) so I'mhappy with that. This was the first year in quite a while that I didn't get a white "elite" bib so I was kind of offended by that, but I finished in the top 200 so I should get it back next year.
1ish mile cooldown

7 miles.
Hot. Blah, blah, blah.
Literally had one mile over a minute higher pace because I had to walk and convince my brain I could make it 2 more miles
Parent - - By old turtle Date 2018-07-08 12:14 PM
Last week I failed to convince my brain. I just couldn't.

Those times happen!!
Parent - - By noquitter [us] Date 2018-07-08 12:17 PM
Sometimes I just stop, pause my Garmin, wait for my heart rate to come down and then start again.  That's kind of cheating but I have been known to walk too.
Parent - By redraider0528 (Fashionista) Date 2018-07-08 12:19 PM
Nah! You gotta do what you gotta do!
Parent - - By PoopedColt Date 2018-07-08 3:37 PM
Sounds miserable. You are really tough (or maybe dumb -kidding ) for getting it done.

I also went to hot yoga.
It was hotter in there than it was outside currently.

15km with my dog. Gorgeous day.
Parent - - By noquitter [us] Date 2018-07-08 12:20 PM
Your dog must be pretty tough.  I remember one woman who used to train with her dog, Ruby. The dog had it's own cooling vest and used to do marathon training runs.
Parent - - By Mookiethedog Date 2018-07-08 2:59 PM
Yes, dogs get like their owners ....she has done a couple of 20km runs but I'm capping her at around 18km now as she seems to fade a little towards 20 and we have to make it fun!

SDO.  Could have swam but will do that tomorrow between 2 spin classes (my regular one & one I'm covering for an instructor on vacation).  Tour de France theme for classes over the next 3 weeks so tomorrow will be the Team Time Trial.

Cut my grass :meh:

It was actually a pleasant day here. 65 at the start and 78 at the finish. (Last week it was 77 at the start.) 15.5 miles just to hit a certain number for the week.
Parent - - By noquitter [us] Date 2018-07-08 12:21 PM
I did the same thing with my run today. Thankfully, we are on the same team.

We've had some cooler temps in the morning. I managed 9 yesterday and 8.5 today.  it seems like I try to accomplish the majority of my weekly mileage through my weekend runs.  I just don't have time for anything further than 5-6 during the week. :meh:
Parent - By PoopedColt Date 2018-07-08 3:38 PM
That's a lot for you in 2 days, no? Nice job!

40 min run in CO. It was awesome. No more 2000 pound elephant on my back and the anaconda squeezing my lungs. just finished going up Mt Evans and now am waiting for pizza
Parent - - By noquitter [us] Date 2018-07-08 2:55 PM
What about that elevation thing?
Parent - By PoopedColt Date 2018-07-08 3:36 PM Edited 2018-07-08 3:39 PM
Dunno. My phone doesn't do distance well. The certified 5K measures 2.3 on my phone and my 5 mile race was 3.8 miles. But the distance/time seemed roughly the same.  I didn't notice any difference except I could breathe. At the top of Mt Evans I was a bit disoriented here and there, but my lungs had no trouble.  The climb was short though. And flip flops probably weren't the best choice.

Now we are waiting for DH to go through the largest comic shop in the world. We may be here forever... : pbbt:

Edit - they are about to begin a light saber battle!!!!:laugh:

5 early Gallos here; starte out nice and cool and ended in full sun and a bit warmer. Spotted 3 deer grazing and when they saw me ,their tails perked up and  they then bounded into the woods . Ened our day at the lake again.

 love seeing deer! They are so beautiful.

That’s always fun to see. I saw a bunch while camping over the weekend and thought that it was cool.
