What no daily? :shocker!: Yikes...

You know what to do. Post em and anything else you might have on your mind.

Everyone knows I suck at starting these..

Beautiful morning for a run. We're talking perfect weather!! Ran 3 miles. Still can't make it up Squirrel Hill : pbbt: Several police cars at a house around the corner from us. :wtf: I've always thought its was a strange house. When you look in the windows it's just piles of stuff. I don't know how you can live like that says the OCD in it's place girl. Other than that nothing notable. Peaceful run.

That's all I have... off to the gym and then possibly to adopt a new kitty, not a kitty, kitty, but a young cat.

Have an excellent day!!!

The stuff police.  I suspect they will be over to my house soon.

Perfect weather, huh????:cry::cry::cry::cry: LOL! Sorry, but don't expect me to stop whining about the weather here in GA anytime soon!!

Wish I weren't so allergic to cats. Alex misses hers so much. I feel so bad that she couldn't bring her here, but at least her cousin is taking good care of her.

Today was an easy day. 2 treadmill miles at the gym followed by weights. Approximately 13,000 pounds moved in various directions.  (If you multiple the reps by the weight. Sounds like a lot but it is actually very little.)

The gunman is still on the loose. The assisted living place next to us was on lockdown yesterday. I never lock anything, but I have been trying to remember to at least keep the garage closed in case he comes running by our area. No sense giving him an easy place to hide. For him to evade police for 7 days I figure he must be getting help.  In addition to the local police there is help from other communities and the state police.  Drones, helicopters, and dogs helping to search.

Starting Friday, the 10 day forecast is showing 7 days in a row in the 90's. I wish I was back in Michigan.

I like your 6.5 ton work out.  That's cool.  I have to remember that.  Not that I can move 6 and half tons any more.

A gunman really hangs around the same area for 7 days?:wtf:  I guess he will be on stupid criminals videos.
Parent - - By Dave59 [us] Date 2018-06-26 8:23 AM
He already belongs on a stupid criminals video. He went to a house to shoot a (former?) girlfriend. He fired 5 shots at the house and she wasn't even home. He did hit 3 other people who were home. (None of them were killed, which is a good thing.)  If you were going to do something that was most likely going to end with you in prison, wouldn't you make sure your intended target was there first?
Parent - By Grey Beard Tom [us] Date 2018-06-26 8:41 AM
My friend had her house shot up by a guy going after his girlfriend.  It was the wrong house!  Fortunately nobody hurt.  He went to prison.

one of my favorite quotes from Thelma and Louise "Well, I figure if you take a state policeman, shoot up his car, take his gun and lock him in the trunk, it's best to just get on out of the state if you can."

Sounds like he needs to take that advice. Why would one stick around?
Parent - By Deb [us] Date 2018-06-26 9:09 AM
Ditto with the weight moving. I have never thought of it that way..I want to remember that!!:cool::cool:

I hear you about the Michigan thing! Ray was watching a bit of the Travelers Golf Tournament (from CT) while we were in our room trying to cool down for a few minutes before heading back out into the hot weather in NC-the people in CT were wearing jackets and it almost made me cry:cry:

Had the running gear on this morning and it was light rain.  Checked forecast and it said Tstorms starting in 8 min.  It drizzled for an hour, I fizzled.  Now I'm sipping coffee and the sun is coming out.

Back in the mountains in my red car with an all new engine.   Hyundai was good, it did not cost a dime for engine or rental.  Trying to baby it a bit for break in although service rep says its not necessary, just don't drag race up the mountain.

I left my debit card in the gas pump.  I'm so use to in and out at start, that I forgot this was insert and leave it in until finish pumping. ( Oh the code:laugh:) Remembered an hour later when I went to use it 75 miles later at McDs.  Called bank, no further use.   New card in 5-7 days at home.  In the mean time, I'll pump with Lynda.

Our hotel room is directly over the car port at the main office.  Fine as long as no too tall truck tries to come through.

Quiet at Ellen's house this week.  Josiah at Boy Scout camp all week, Isaac at music camp in AM, Anna volunteers at music camp in AM and works in afternoon.  Nathanial sleeps during the day and is awake at night.

Tom in WNC

Glad that Hyundai took care of your car troubles at no cost! Also glad that no one used your card! Hopefully, the rest of your adventures will all be good ones!

I just returned from a power walk with a friend.  It was a good walk; gave me the uplifting that I need.

Drizzled on us but nothing much.  Not a drop at my house.

Have a good day all!

A good power walk with a friend and a bit of a drizzle sounds perfect!

Hi all!  Amtrakin' was fun yesterday.  This might become my favorite mode of travel.  6 1/2 hours on the train and only 20 minutes late!!

Today, I'm taming Lisa's perennial gardens in exchange for BBQ in REO town.  REO in homage to Ransom E Olds of Oldsmobile fame.  We've also visited Jeffery, Michigan's tallest tomato plant.  See Facebook.

She's cartooning, I need to get back outside and attack the climbing roses.  Cross training at it's finest.  Tomorrow we run at Hawk Park.

Oh how lucky are you to have Amtrak for public transportation.

That tomato plant is very tall.  Does it produce fruit?  If so what kind of tomatoes?

Enjoy your time with Lisa and that cool weather.  Be sure you post the temp for Dave's information.
Parent - By dnaff [us] Date 2018-06-26 1:31 PM
Hey Dave  81 for the high, 67 for the low.   Beat that.

Jeffery the tomato plant grows cherry tomatoes.  There were 3 that were ripe and at my height.  Lisa told me to pick one but I was afraid I'd be escorted from the store!

Another Amtraker:cool:   Please let your Congessman know.  Certain govt people Amtrak is just a big waste of $$.

Union Station in Chicago is doing a reno on the Great Hall.  I was looking so forward to my layover just to sit in the Great Hall and zone out.   Everything was covered in scaffolding and tarps so I'll just have to go back when they are done.  There was one column uncovered and the marble floor was visible too.  But oh so sad not to see the rest of it.  I think it was built in the mid 20's and is so elegant.

loved the train itself, so much more roomy than a plane.  The porters on the first leg were a scream.  The ones on the 2nd leg were just tired.  The one announced right before the Lansing stop that she was closing the cafe car because she had to help the other porters get all our slow butts off the train and once they were rid of us she'd reopen the cafe!

I'll Amtrak again for sure!

I LOVE Amtrak! It's so much more relaxing to me than other forms of transportation!  So glad to hear that you are getting to spend time with Lisa! Enjoy!

Hey, Y'all! Crazy, hot, busy weekend and Monday was pretty hectic also!

Conor had a lacrosse tournament in North Carolina and it was SOOOOOO hot! I sat outside all day Saturday AND Sunday. We left our house Friday morning and drove to Clemson for a tour with Conor. Nice school, but the walking tour was miserable! Friday night we had dinner with some old friends (Michael and his wife Joy) from CT who are now living in NC. Michael was the bass player in Ray's band-Sundance Kidz. Another friend (Andy) and his wife who just moved to Charlotte from CT also joined us! Andy was the Sax player for Sundance Kidz! We had such a nice time! Our friends from CT are moving away from there in droves! Joy said she hopes the last person to leave CT remembers to turn the lights out!! LOL!

Yesterday Ray woke up sick (probably too much sun, driving, and crappy eating,) Conor reminded me around 4 that his girlfriend was invited for dinner because she was leaving this morning for Malaysia where she will be for a month, so I scrambled to find something "guest appropriate" for dinner. Then we got a call at 5:00 that the girlfriend and her mom were rear-ended while running errands. Thankfully they were both okay, but their car was totaled. Kelly was STILL determined to come over since she was leaving this morning, so we moved dinner to a much later time. In the middle of it all, Alex was having a mini-meltdown over her future, a woman who is in charge of a breast cancer 5k I am doing reminded me that I needed to send her info for a blurb she wanted to put about me on their website and that she needed it by last night, my cousin reminded me that I was supposed to invite people to an online nail party I accidentally agreed to have for her........

Okay, but today is a bit calmer! I went out for almost 2 miles, but it was just SOOO hot! I had intended to do 4 miles, but I was really struggling and feeling light-headed so I decided to wait and try to get in the rest of the mileage tonight.

Sorry for all the info, but Deb asked what was on my mind!

How is the job search coming along?

Are you running shirtless?  Is Diego behaving?

I bet the MD grandkids are a lot of fun this summer. Scarlett and Hernan, correct?
Parent - By OldAndInTheWay Date 2018-06-26 3:08 PM
no new job found yet. still plugging away at this one.

yes running shirts. Diego never behaves.

Good memory. Scarlett and Luca Hernan. Hernan is his middle name. He is over here right now. Daughter took Scarlett to the new Incredibles movie.
