5.2 miles for me.
4 easy ones. I haven't ran since my 22-miler on Sunday because my knee was hurting, but it felt good today! Did some yoga and exercises to help strengthen my knee after (lunges, wall sits, figure-4 pose, etc).
Glad your knee did not hurt.
sounds like the rest and strengthening and stretching was just what the (knee) doctor ordered. glad you felt good.
A pair of sixes for me. 6 miles last night on the trails of Warwick Park with the Lady. A bit slow, especially on the hilly charcoal trail, but managed a nice speedy finish to wrap it up. Ran solo today at lunch on the local trail. 6 miles with some effort, relatively speedy for me these days, with a nice light shower to cool me off during the final half mile. Smell of honeysuckle or something sweet during both runs.
3 miles for me this morning. I listened to an amazingly tacky mix of 80's music which made me very happy. (Culture Club/Laura Branigan/Modern Talking)
I have a ballet class tonight to be followed by Day 12 of an "Abs of Steel" app that I am doing with my two sons.

That's just about a perfect distance to force you to forget about everything and just worry about pedaling. Nice!
4.25 easy in the 'hood near the AirBnB near Rochester. Lots of pretty spring foliage to enjoy
Spring is so much appreciated this year!
ahhhh, spring, finally.
Although it's probably summer in TX by now.
I bet it's beautiful!

I did 2 hilly loops in our neighborhood for 4.4 miles. I ran it in both directions. A pretty slow pace but in 78 degree weather and running uphill a lot, I think I managed to get my heart rate up.
Last night I did more hills.
Met with the track group for 6x400 hill repeats. Warm up 1 mile Cool down 1 mile for a total of 5 miles. Temp was 85. If that isn't good heat and hill training I don't know what is. I enjoy having company for this type of torture.
The whole idea is to start conditioning myself for a Hospital Hill on June 3rd. I won a free entry to the 1/2 and it always kicks my butt. I would like to try to run it in close to 2 hours. (I have never run it in under 2 hours and usually closer to 2:10.) I think it's the heat more than the hills.
Today is in 90s but I am taking a rest day.
I got tired reading this.
I personally break into a sweat with those temps.
me too! maybe I should change my forum name to quitter.
sounds like some excellent running! Whoo on the heat - it was only a couple of weeks ago that we were all complaining about the never ending winter. Well, it's ended!!
I'm actually enjoying it after all the waiting. Nothing like brrr cold weather in April to make you appreciate warm weather at last.
Yay for hills!! Well done.
Nice workouts!! Sounds like you're kicking butt!
My butts been getting kicked too.
It will all be worth it.
6.6 in my neighborhood.
Any more interesting texts?
My daughter got added to a group text for some dude's bachelor party once when she was about 17 (it was obviously a wrong number). She left the group.
So. Close. To. Finishing. The. Semester. Limping towards the finish line - tomorrow at noon is my final deadline and then Let The Summer Fun Begin! Worky worked all morning and now I'm heading out for 5 trail miles to clear my head before this afternoon's push. The end is in sight!!
Happy trails to you today!
YES!!!! That has to feel GREAT!
90 minute spin class today. Omg, I needed that!
I'm getting a late start for the dogs today, waiting on laundry and other stuff. Still don't know what time house inspection is tomorrow. I think my realtor (selling the house for me) hates me, since I told her Tuesday that we wanted to use a different realtor to buy a place.
Whatever, peace out and all that.
Anyway, today has got to be a better day than yesterday
, so I'm looking forward to that.
you're the customer! and you're always right.
Good job on the spin!
it's your house and you get to do what's best for you.
Where are you moving? Are you staying close to your current location?
I hope it's better!!
Why are you switching realtors? If she gave you bad service, you absolutely should switch! Otherwise, I can understand why she expected to help you find a place.
I haven't been able to check in all week. tuesday was a nice track workout, then i had time for strength stuff and then to the pool with my mom. Funny my hip was annoyed first think in the pool but felt so much better afterwards.
yesterday was a rest day because i needed it after a work event the evening before
. It was wow because then after work i had to go set up my mom's ipad which took two hours.
this morning was 5.5 miles with a couple friends. Now that it's so light at 5:30 am we can add in some different routes that go through wooded park areas. So that was fun to do a different very hilly route. We heard a loud spat of crows and an eagle in the trees. There were a couple of women set up for bird watching in one area and they pointed out where the bald eagle was sitting. the crows (as usual) were harassing it and as we watched, the eagle took off over our heads. Amazing! I do see bald eagles quite frequently here and it never gets old.
Cool on the eagle.
Or, as they say in Philly, fly eagles fly. :groan:
Nice! There are two baby eagles that hatched a couple of weeks ago in the park where I run.
What a cool sight!!!
9 last night.
I think I am realizing how much fitness I lost last year with the hamstring tear and then the heart stuff. The only hard thing I did last year was the celtic traverse in June. The heart stuff happened right after. So for the rest of the year, and before that really because of the hamstring, I stayed on pretty level ground. The reason I am rambling on is that the 27k last weekend really affected me it seems.. I felt more sore than after Umstead.? I somehow strained by left (not the torn right) hamstring. I didn't feel it at all during the race. It kind of losens up when I run this week but doesn't seem to go away. Anyway, all my runs this week have sort of been trudges. I had been adding hills back into my runs in the last month or so and feeling good and the 27k had some hills but the course really didn't seem too tough. Maybe just an off week? Arrrg!
Not sure tonight..maybe 6? Maybe just walk? Tomorrow is a rest day.
I hope it's just an off week but maybe some rest wouldn't hurt?
Don't forget you did that 100 miler thing.
That's why I'm puzzled. Felt so much more beat up after last weekend than after the 100..
Anyway..big thunderstorms when I was going to run so I went and did my usual workout and then walked 4 after since the storms had passed.
My workout will be teaching spin class tonight. Pizza and beer consumption after that.
Did some "administrative" running related work this morning.
A friend from our running club passed away on Monday. He was first diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2003. He fought a hard battle for 15 years through a few surgeries, chemo, some mild and some really bad seizures and a couple of strokes. "Shade" as we called him (that's part of his last name) founded and RD'ed a race series our running club began in 1993. Several of us stepped up to share the work load after his initial diagnosis and more so in the following years as he was less able to help out. Since I've "officially" been the RD, two of our most loyal volunteers and a third guy who pretty much shared RD responsibility with me have died
We named 3 of the 6 races after them but that wouldn't have been sufficient recognition for Shade so what he originally called the "No Frills, Just Thrills" series will now be the "Ed Espenshade No Frills, Just Thrills" series. I modified all of the online listings for the race to reflect that this morning.
My other admin stuff was a preliminary age-graded scoring for our USATF association's runners in last Sunday's Broad Street Run 10 mile race. As usual for such a large race (over 36,000 finishers) the timer didn't get me a file of results until today. I use some software we got the Assn. to pay for several years ago to match those results against our membership records for "possible" matches. About half of the 450 possible matches were valid. There's some effort in eyeballing the potential matches (it ranks by a confidence factor and displays both) but it's sooooooooo much easier than when I first got stuck...I mean, took over responsibility, for doing it.

10 sucky miles this morning. I wanted to cut it short, but since I have a work thing this evening, I can't go to boxing class, so I figured I would just run the whole damn thing. Just wasn't feeling it.
I think something is wrong with my little dog's back, left leg.
When I walked her last night and this morning, she started hopping so as not to use it. She also couldn't hop up onto the bed last night. Something to deal with this weekend.....
Sorry the run stunk. Way to stick it out tho.
I hope your little dog is okay
hope all is OK.

9 miles - 6 at tempo pace. I think I sweated off more pounds than I ran miles.
Nice!! Something about sweating buckets makes me feel so accomplished.

7k or so on the trails. It was part of an 8 week racing series.
Not really racing just having fun. Lots of roots and rocks !
