I've been up since 2am. I'm pretty well packed for my trip to the park, where I will likely spend most of the rainy weekend huddled up in the cabin with about 10 or so friends. But first, I have to spend the morning at "safety training" for my summer part-time gig, manning the gatehouse at the reservoir. I may run tonight, but after a four-five hour drive, I may not find the energy.
How 'bout you. Post 'em if you got 'em.
i won't have much, if any, internet access this weekend,
so if i don't reply, don't take it personal
Have a good trip!!
Yes, I was in the park!
About 9 miles for me today, including a 10k trail race called the Swamp Creek Stomp. Pretty fun course. Most of the trails were twisty, rustic, meaning barely trails through lowlands around Swamp Creek. Serious mud patches in many places all over the course. Sucked my foot out of the shoe in second bog. Lost a few places getting the bugger back on. Two crosses of the main creek and too many small creak, ditch crossings to count. Everyone was pretty muddied up. A 5k took place at the same time and instead of a double the 10k split off for bonus distance and rejoined it multiple times. Very well marked course, and considering the nature of the trails that was a plus. Last mile was in an open meadow and set my sites on 2 guys ahead and reeled them in for decent finish.. 56:40, just over 9 minute pace. Good for me these days especially considering all the slowing mud. Chip timed race, haha, and saw I was first and only in my AG for the 10k (they had a monitor with scrolling results), probably also first shirtless overall (temps were over 70). Surprise not more people in my AG as there was a good crowd but many likely did the 5k.
Safe travels and have a fun weekend camping and running.

9 min/mile on trail - yes! Quite good!! Congrats!
50 min spin, 30 burpees and core work
Happy Saturday! I've had two nights in a row up past 11 (that's like CRAZY for me) so I'm hoping for an early bedtime tonight. ZZZzzzZZZ
baseball at 1:30 then mass at 5ish... makes it tough
Well if there is boring homily, you may be able to catch a couple Zs.
my thoughts exactly
I know my kids will
Mass at 4:30 for me but no napping since I have to usher.
Wow, that is burning the midnight oil almost!!
How’s the foot?
It's hanging in there. I'm going to see my dude on Tuesday.
Just reading 30 burpees made my gut hurt.
It had been awhile since I did a burpee. Felt surprisingly good.
are you recovered?
6 miles. Our neighbor where we used to live (2.5 years ago) is a personal trainer. This morning Mrs. Rob had a workout scheduled, so I went with her so I could run in my old neighborhood where I began my running career.
It was grand!

I hope the trainer kicks your wife's ass after the insult she gave you last week.
That sounds good for everyone!

5.1 miles, the last 2.2 with my son. Really crappy weather. Low 30s, strong wind and sleet.

Winter just won't let go.
I’m impressed your son ran in that!
And you too!
but nice run!
6 mile bike ride this morning. First time on the bike outdoors since last July & so first time with the new hip. Positioning on the bike, even in "aero" was awesome! My hip didn't hurt! Could have rode longer but have a ton of yard work I want to get in today. So far the grass has been cut & edged. Next is raking out some bare spots, spreading topsoil & seed and covering it with some type of a straw roll I got at Lowes because neither they nor Home Depot had rolls of burlap
It's 80 degrees here again! It will barely make 60 tomorrow and the next 2 days will bring rain.

Woo-hoo for outdoor riding!
That’s awesome Ed!
So glad the new hip is behaving and that you got outside to ride. I saw some cyclists on my run today, made me want to get out and ride too!
Nice job on the outside ride!!
Wow, it's colder here than there!
It was gorgeous today! Tonight, not so much, so I'm glad you took advantage of it.

Through the ice and snow. It’s pretty bad here.
Ice and snow! And it's 80° here in Jersey.
Are you in Upstate NY by any chance?

on the weather but
on your run and pace
How's the baby?

He’s good. Boring but good. All he does is sleep, eat and go to the bathroom. He didn’t even offer to shovel the drive way today.
you'll pay for that comment later
I was in the park today, Saddle River Park. Met a friend who ran 14 of 17 miles with me, then I finished up on my own. I slowed way down after he left.
It was beautiful, the first hot day! I went through a 2 and a half big bottles of tailwind, and I'm still feeling parched. Funny thing is that tomorrow is supposed to be about 40°. I can't keep up with this.
But after the 90 minute spin class yesterday, and the run today, my legs are tired. Tomorrow is going to be easy recovery, I swear!
Weasley the War Poodle is at the groomer, after I pick him up I have an open house to go to. Turkey chili in the crockpot.
Yes! Thankfully not too many cyclists, but lots of runners, families walking and bike riding. Beautiful morning.
It was good!
Thanks to my friend being faster than I am, the first 14 miles were at a 9:50 pace- my long runs are usually 10:15 to 10:30, on the slower end when it's hot like today.
5.07 miles this morning. Miles 1-4 were ok but that last mile was a struggle. I didn’t have any of the ITB pain that plagued me during the marathon last week. Yay for that but it’s so frustrating that it happened during my goal race. Oh well, on to the next!
Run was followed by a long dog walk which included defending myself and my dog from another dog that jumped his fence and came at us. His owner watched him do it
and was mad that I was kicking at his dog.
I wasn’t trying to kick his dog, I was trying to keep his dog away from mine because my dog isn’t always friendly to other dogs and once bit a small dog that came charging at us. My dog was actually pretty good though it all thankfully, he just wanted to get on with his walk. And I think the other dog really just wanted to play, he seemed sweet, but you never know. I was shaking from the adrenaline. The rest of the walk was less exciting.
Followed that up with a few hours of yard work: poop sweep of the backyard, weeding in the front of the house, and raking the front yard. Thank you SPF 50+ sunscreen for protecting me! I haven’t been in that much sun in a long time!
How annoying on the dog walk!!! Ugh! That's one of my worst fears when walking Olive.
When we first got Apollo (he’s a rescue) I made the mistake of not being cautious when this tiny little off-leash dog charged up to him/us while we were out on a walk. Apollo grabbed him in his mouth and started shaking him around like a chew toy.
I was horrified, especially since I had stepkid #2 with me and she was only about 6 at the time.
Fortunately I was able to get Apollo to let go and the dog was fine, but I have been super cautious ever since. I tell other dog owners that he’s anxious and not good at making friends instead of telling them that my dog might try to eat their dog.
That can be really scary! I would have done exactly the same thing as you. If a dog came at Bert, Bert would pick a fight- he's not friendly, so it doesn't matter how friendly the other dog is.
Thank you for weighing in, I value your input as a professional dog walker.
I hereby give you a virtual coupon for free critique of your poop picking up technique. I'm think of becoming a coach.
6 miles today, combo of power walking and running (power walk 1/3 mi, run 2/3 mile). I'm still counting it as running

9 mile run in the drizzle for me. Conditions were actually pretty pleasant for running -- rain never got too bad.
6 very slow run/walk on the tow path. stopped to see the eagle sitting on a next. babies were due to hatch today. legs feel good. i just still feel pretty lazy.
I think you are allowed to be lazy for a while! 6 miles isn’t lazy
Yes, agreed. You are allowed to be lazy!

I ran 2.1 miles in a park yesterday.
I ran 3.1 miles in a park today.
I will run 26.2 miles on the roads tomorrow.
