It's Wednesday but feels like a Monday to me because my kids have been off school since last Thursday.
Whatcha got planned for today?
What's for lunch?

I had gone to lunch yesterday at my favorite Mexican restaurant. They always have the GIANTS game on television during baseball season.
You must have been busy picking up change.
Planned to do 4-6 miles at tempo pace with a few friends but the high wind warning for today (sustained 30-40mph with gusts of 65mph) caused us to cancel that. So I did 5x mile on the treadmill at work instead. Went 6:00, 5:56, 5:50, 5:46, 5:48. 9 miles total in just under an hour.
Wind has just started here (southeast PA) but it sounds more gusty then steady. Phew on your TM run.
Dang, those are some fast miles!
It would be scary going that fast on a TM.

A few years ago I was trying to run sub-16:00 in the 5K and had to do some mile repeats at 5:00 pace on the treadmill. That was scary, for me, and the people around me!
Got a good run in and managed not be blown off course.
Hit the local trail at lunch before the high winds rolled in. Was pretty much just calm and foggy when we started, but then the rain came in various forms from drizzle to light to heavy showers and back and forth. So the Lady and I got rather doused, but I was having a good run and in my happy place. We made up the loop we missed the other day so 6 miles in the books. Funny thing about the Lady on this run. The "loop" I repeat on this trail includes a short out/back portion, maybe 2/10 of a mile. We get about 50 yards from where I turn around and she just stops and stands there. I guess she doesn't get the point of continuing on to my official turn around. When I head back she gets excited though and hops around like a maniac.
Lunch. Made at home. Tuna salad wrap, generous handful of baby carrot and baked whole grain crisps, quarter slice of cantaloupe.
We get about 50 yards from where I turn around and she just stops and stands there. I guess she doesn't get the point of continuing on to my official turn around. When I head back she gets excited though and hops around like a maniac.
Glad you were back in your happy place!
That is is so funny about the Lady!
Yay for a happy run!!
Your wrap sounds delicious.
(I like wool!)

Their break is over so now yours can begin.
Ran 5 miles today in a gale but it didn't blow me into the river...the devastating winds knocking down trees etc. didn't come until later in the afternoon. We have power, unlike many in the area.
Lunch was great!
Crab corn chowder and a garden salad with ranch dressing from my fave deli at the end of the run. And I got to see my son's gf there waiting for my order.
Your lunch sounds great!
Glad you have power -- wind sounds scary!
That sounds like a nice lunch for sure.

6 x 1k with 2:30 recovery.
Pace was 5:00-5:30.

3.2 miles with my son.
4.1 miles for me this morning. It was chilly (43) but sunny... I still opted for gloves after my frozen fingers Monday but I shed them about 2.5 miles in.
I'm about to change and head to yoga!
Lunch - I bet I stop at Eatzis and get my favorite little chicken salad box. It has a scoop of chicken salad, greens, grapes and crostini. It's terribly overpriced but I love it AND they have the best tea ever.
Lunch sounds yummy!
Thanks for making me google "crostini"
What, you've never watched chopped?!
My gloves would still be on at 43 degrees!
2018-04-04 11:08 AM
Me too. #wimp
I am still carrying gloves in my shorts pocket just in case. I should be done with nonsense by now.
Have a nice stretch!
There is something about someone else preparing my lunch that makes me willing to pay for it sometimes.
3-4 miles after work tonight. We are under a high wind warning
so if I am likely to get blown away I will postpone my run.
Last night's 4 were ok, it was drizzly and cold but not too bad once I warmed up.
Lunch is TBD but hopefully something good since we have a client here! My back-up lunch is Cheerios.
I hope those are Honey Nut Cheerios.
but I eat them with half and half at work instead of milk!
Hope you have something better than cheerios
Roast beef sandwich, macaroni salad, and my favorite giant pickles with hot peppers! And a chocolate chip cookie to round it all out.
That lunch sounds amazing! Way better than Cheerios with half and half
I had Cheerios and raspberries for dinner last night. It is the best "go to" meal!
Cheerios are for desert not lunch silly.
I hope everyone is wearing ankle weights with all these high wind warnings.
Morning all. I'm driving my dad around to various things today but hoping to get out skiing this afternoon, if there's time. Then DD and I are going to an outdoor film festival tonight which should be a lot of fun.
An outdoor film festival in the middle of winter?
2018-04-04 10:19 AM
Whoops - it’s a festival of outdoor films. Held indoors.
I pictured you cross-country skiing into the festival.
2018-04-04 11:46 AM
Is it the Banff film festival?
We've been to the Banff festival a few times (the traveling version, not the one actually in Banff), but this is No Man's Land
- they bill themselves as an "all-female adventure film festival." Not entirely sure what that means in practice, but DD was interested and I never turn down a chance to hang out with her.
2018-04-04 7:24 PM
DH and DS are taking me to Banff Film Fest for my birthday (the traveling version, not the one actually in Banff).
2018-04-04 10:00 PM
Oh, that will be great. They always find some pretty special films to include.
I knew you were hardcore up there in the north but still!
That is what I was thinking!
Oh, the film festival sounds fun. Will you freeze?
Outdoors is kind of dicey right now. Glad the outdoor festival film festival is indoors.
Taper week day off!!! This worked out well since this morning it was 15* with a decent wind.
Hey but we have sun shining today which has been rare over the last few weeks.
No other news; boring day. Hmm, maybe I can nap later!
Lunch: Turkey sandwich, pretzel chips and a Diet Coke.
Hope you get a nap! Yay sunshine!
15 degrees sucks in January, let alone April.
2018-04-04 12:05 PM
Yes and 15 * is colder in April...
Those temps are Buffalo temps, not Kansas temps, for April! Are you sure you're in Kansas anymore?
This morning would not have been my choice either.
A 60 minute heart rate endurance spin this morning. Good workout. Now I'm waiting for the piano mover to come get my upright piano, which I'm donating to a nursing home in Newark. The piano was a gift from my parents, so I'm happy it will be put to good use. Then dog walking, house cleaning/clearing out- the usual.
I had a whole bagel for breakfast and I don't feel the least bit guilty about that!
Lunch... probably a green smoothie.
55 minute "Attacks & intervals" for me & my riders this morning.
Attacks, are those climbs?
Not specifically on a hill but it could be. Here's an explanation as it applies to road cycling:
An attack is an aggressive increase in effort. In a race, one rider “attacks” another by suddenly gearing up and pulling away from him/her. You can always put out more power standing than you can seated, so you should stand to attack.
Attacks are very physically draining, as they require anaerobic metabolism to fuel the sudden increase in effort. For this reason, a cyclist must be careful when attacking. If he puts out too much effort, he will deplete himself so much he has to slow way down, and all will be for naught if the other rider passes him again.
The attack itself may last only 20 to 40 seconds, but when you sit back down you may still be putting out a higher level of effort than before.
Everyone from the Marathon Forum knows of my bagel snobbery! The ones this morning were delicious, real, NYC Metro Area bagels. Divine!
It is nice the piano will have a good home. Did anyone ever play it?
My kids took lessons when they were small, but weren't really interested. Philip took a few lessons, years ago. Then it just sat there, making me feel guilty.
Did you consider a 1/2 bagel?
Oh no... green smoothie.
Well, last week (post-marathon week) I was on the kale diet, and by kale, I mean chocolate cheesecake.
Time to get back on track, I forgot that I have the Buffalo Marathon over Memorial Day Weekend!
> by kale, I mean chocolate cheesecake
That's the best kind of kale!
Usual for me. I taught 6am indoor cycling class and did hip & shoulder exercises afterwards. Spring break/low attendance in class continued today but I had 50% more (total of 6) riders than on Monday
Temps here rose overnight. It was 48 and foggy when I left the house this morning. Still only in the low 50s when I got home but right now it's 68 but will be back down to the upper 40s by sunset as a cold front moves through. All sorts of wind will accompany the front & remain for a while after it.
Lunch will be a chicken breast sandwich, some wheat thins and lemonade.
Glad you had more riders today!
There seems to be all sorts of wind everywhere now.
Jeez, it's so cold here I can't even think of lemonade.

2018-04-04 1:24 PM
Maybe Ed means the kind of lemonade you add a shot of rum or whiskey to and heat up?
Ran 6 this morning. Winds warnings around here but it seems I got my run in before they picked up. Ran a few errands afterwards. Need to start packing though I've done this enough now that it is fairly straight forward. Forecast looks wet for Umstead.
McDuffy is 2 for 2! Last night we practiced catching the mouse in the dining room! Grady was in on the action too but mostly as a quiet observer
Good job McDuff!
Word will get around and the rodents won't come near your place.
I wonder if he catches the same one over and over
That's what I was thinking!
Rest up and have a great race this weekend.
Are you going to use light ponchos for the rain? I've never run in rain at night, have you? But after running in 85° at C&O Canal last year, I imagine some cool rain would be appreciated!
Vermont 2016. Torrential downpour on and off for 6 or so hours
Thunder and lightening. My pacer saved me with a cheapie poncho she had stuffed in her pack. I had decided not to pick up my rain jacket because the storm was not in the forecast. The rain started shortly after she joined me at mile 70 and didn't let up until daybreak.
I have a rain jacket and a cheap poncho they handed out one year. Latest is most of the rain during the day when temps will get into the upper 60's but dry at night. Cold though, 30'sSo, bringing stuff to change into during the night including fleece. I usually put on dry stuff heading into the night anyhow.

Does hump day mean we are on the downhill side of winter?
It is sunny today, but still cold. Looking forward to a warming trend of upper 30s later today. I have a track workout planned and have to do 5x800s.
Tomorrow will be nice and in 60s so I may try to run outside.
Friday, we are supposed to get snow.
Lunch is two frozen pancakes and a Greek yogurt.
It's cold here too... we have family coming in on Friday and Saturday for kid's games and Saturday high is 52. WTF
Oh, now you have me craving pancakes.....
I love pancakes but I prefer them thawed and even warm.
2018-04-04 1:58 PM
I'm imagining some sort of pancake-on-a-stick, dipped in maple syrup and frozen. Hmm...no, I think I prefer them your way.
Ok, I'll admit to microwaving them. They are easier to eat that way.
Warming trend to the upper 30's... snow on Friday. Boohiss. I want type many curse words for your weather... and mine too... we have a similar forecast.
Good luck with the track workout!
I was SO TIRED this morning and slept through my alarm. Since I had to make the commute from hell and drive to my downtown Dallas office today, I only had time for 23 minutes on the elliptical (one episode of Parks & Rec
).....will go to boxing class tonight.
I am about to grab some lunch and will likely get a salad somewhere.
Sounds like you needed the extra sleep.
That is a commute from hell. Do you get to leave early??
2018-04-04 12:11 PM
I love Parks & Rec.
23 minutes is very specific. You couldn't do 24?
Hellish commutes are something I don't miss from my old professional life. Doing that every day sucks out the soul...
Is Parks & Rec your Scandal replacement?
No, this isn't my replacement show as it is only 23 minutes and I've watched all f them numerous times. I just knew i only had short amount of time to be interesting he elliptical and no matter what episode I randomly selected, I would laugh and laugh and laugh!
I glad you got to watch a full episode at least.
5 miles at noon.
Showers came through this morning and cooled us down so it was a very pleasant run.
Lunch today after the run was a ham sandwich on marbled rye (a rare bread treat), banana, and the last of my Girl Scout cookies (Samoa’s).
I lucked out yesterday and got to go to a practice round at the Master’s golf tournament. My brother is down from PA and he went on Monday and found a connection for some other tickets and we scored a pretty good deal and had a great time. The guy I ran with today may have a connection for some actual tournament tickets for Friday so we are in standby mode in case those come through. I’ve been to a number of practice rounds but never to the real tournament rounds.
Today’s lunch couldn’t hold a candle to yesterday’s lunch of egg salad and pimento cheese sandwiches ($1.50 each).
The golf tourney sounds fun! Is that where you got the egg salad sandwiches?
2018-04-04 2:02 PM
Yes, they are a tradition for that golf tournament - and they keep the prices super cheap which is amazing compared to most sporting events.
egg salad and pimento cheese sandwiches
I would never think to combine those two things, but yum!
Best egg salad and best pimento cheese ever?
That sounds like a great time!
Been watching some of the programs leading up to the tournament on Tv with my husband. I'm not even a golfer but I find some of the history stories and commentary very interesting. He has been to the tournament and a practice round (separate trips) and looks forward to watching it onTV every year. I know how difficult those tickets are to come by.
Tried to do 3 Gallos in late afternoon after Habitat, but just couldn't take the weather--snow squalls with 25 mph wind gusts , so I quit early after
maybe 2 miles. :
Seems like we experienced all 4 seasons in 8 hours.
Lunch was pasta leftovers with shrimp, ginger and sweet peppers--best part of the day.
This weather has to end soon.
Mark Twain--" If you don't like the weather, just what a minute ."
My husband was just complaining about the snow forecasted for Sunday. My response, "Yes, but they've taken the snow out for Friday and it will be 47 again on Monday!"
Mark Twain was from Missouri. He knows this stuff.
But I bet Mark Twain said that when he lived in Buffalo.
