The sun is shining this morning. The air is still cold. But, onward we go.
School for kids is canceled again. Haven't been in school since last Thursday. Teachers have reported this morning to their schools.
I got up at 4:00, had coffee, read, then hit the streets for 8 miles. One short section was still pretty icy and I was extra careful there, but most of the road had pavement. The main roads are clear now, but some of the back roads are still iced over.
It was single digit windchill.
Nothing out of the ordinary planned for the weekend. Happy Friday!
That is a LONG time to be out of class.

It's a huge county school district with lots of miles of back roads. We are supposed to get above freezing today for the first time in a week.
agreed. how many snow days do they pepper in?
We have 5 days that are used as Non-Instructional days meaning that students complete homework packets from home, turn in the work, and we don't have to make up that day. We have missed 6 days this school year.
wow. however I have never heard of take home packages for the students. that is really a great idea. kids (teachers and moms too) need summer breaks.
The state education department finally had a good idea about 3 years ago. Some school districts were missing tons of days because of snow. Districts have that option.
Yea it's Friday! The weather should be better today and we are getting out! Plan to be out all day long!

Single digits here this morning. I didn't feel like going to the gym and I had a sense that I wouldn't get around to a run later if I waited for it to warm up, so I put on the winter gear, went to the local park, and ran 4 miles. Footing wasn't great so it was a slow one, but it was a good run. Clear skies starting to get light. I started with some music on an mp3 player, but after a little while I turned it off and stored it so I could just enjoy the quiet snow covered sights and sounds.

I love those kind of runs.
that sounds perfect. what park? Not that I'll be able to meet you, I just thought I could bring it up online and see
It's Barboursville Park. http://www.barboursvillepark.com/
If you click on the map, you'll see a "P" for parking at the top just left of center. My condo is about 200 yards from that spot. That trail can get muddy so I usually drive to the park and run.
your park looks awesome. it reminds me of MS a wee bit.
did you order any? Seriously, do you still drink Velvet Hammer or whatever it was? I'm having plain old Folgers today and I can see you shaking your head.
I have't ordered any in years. been drinking Lavazza from Amazon or Aldi coffee
us too; Aldi for my regular coffee, Lavazza for Lee's espresso. Except the Aldi was starting to hurt my stomach so I switch to Folgers once a week or so.
do you have a BJ's near you? they sell a lower acidity coffee.
2018-01-19 3:02 PM
No to BJ's. I'm in the middle of nowhere.
A perfect winter day. I have to be upbeat if BBS is enthused about -30's.
We are hovering around the freezing point, lots of sunshine. My husband washed the road salt off both cars last night so they are sparkly shiny too.
Today's plan is to take Misha across town and stroll along the river. There is a paved trail and I'm pretty sure the park district has plowed it. If not, it gets plenty of afternoon sunshine and should be melted.
Yoga again as well. 18 days in a row. Day 16 nearly did me in with something called a half moon. To me it looked more like those cranes you see building skyscrapers. Regardless of the shape, my body said no.
Ran yesterday. It was not pretty.

Yoga streak! Good job on the consistency. The afternoon walk by the river sounds nice.
I love it! half moon is hard girl. your core must be rock hard.
its really nice out. 45*
I took the kids to the mall for their day off. the mall is boring.
I'm stalling on the running thing.
Do you think malls are coming to an end? All that is left in ours is one department store, a Planet Fitness, a mom and pop restaurant, and a bookstore that closes the end of this month. I feel badly for the department store - they have a lease through 2022 and they are going to be the only business in that ghost town.
stop the stalling girl, you know you'll feel good when its done.
yes, after Morgan and I agreed. it's boring. nothing good (unless Sephora) I would rather shop from home in my jammies
done 4 miles.
Well this day is a bummer. 10:00 appt and I am still waiting for my husband!
2018-01-19 1:42 PM
Shoot, you could've gone to the river with the dog and I and still made it back to Texas in time. Hey, new recipe tonight - tamale pie. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Finally, we left about 1:05. My husband said most of the time was spent waiting and he mentioned that to the doctor. Surgery is scheduled for Monday, 05 Feb at noon. Then his eyesight should be much better.
I thought it would warm up this afternoon but no such thing. We have a fine mist, cloudy skies which make it seem colder than the 50 degrees on the forecast.
Workout video done, 50 second plank and 2 push-ups done!
And now I am drinking a dark and stormy. :)
