This is easy, peeps. Well maybe not *that* easy since there are a lot of deserving candidates yet. But you only have one category to vote this year and can vote for FIVE (5) worthy candidates to join the HOF.

You can vote for past or current forumites, the only criterion being lifetime contribution or spectacular achievements or something like that. :wtf:

You never get dropped from the ballot unlike in major league baseball, but like MLB I'll report in no particular order the peeps getting votes last year although just not quite enough to be enshrined: mrsfrk, bigbrett, runnertype, noskillz, elContador, neustkg, tommeke and nomad. Your choices of course are not limited to them, but that can help you start thinking.

To vote, message to me here on the forum or to jasz at aol dot com with your votes, up to FIVE worthy candidates. Here are the forumites already in although I should update some of their forum names at some point...please don't waste your votes on them:

2016: mmrocker, Arimathea, Ironjen
2015: Peaches, Tahoeblue, Turkeyfoot
2014: IB, george, sideshowbob
2013: brneydrnnr, darbycrash, N70SAK
2012: insistor, jennyray(O), runnergirl4, puf-daddy, WaWalsh
2011: whollymoly, elmtree, 5KaBobMayo, Rhymeswitorange, mkh, run_gme, cutter, squirrelgirl
2010: ACFR, Ankah, skibabe, Hello Newman, h3ather
2009: cowboyjunkie, gottarungirl, woodstockdave, gadget girl, Dana(2), triplejake, The Beard
2008: adamneh, BrookieCookie, fyodorox, LDR, noel
2007: callie, Cattano, oldturtle, redraider0528, retardedpossum, schwing, Shogun, trailheadgirl, trinity
2006: dangerousdan, ellapritch, jalashkar, littlemary, runnerjim, slowerpoke
2005: 2Hot2Trot, ampman40, David_L, greeneman, jaszflamus, jennifer7
2004: Mookiethedog, mutiger, soundandfury, tescovee, Witchy1

There are plenty more deserving forumites so VOTE please! :mutmad:  Oh eta...please don't be shy about campaigning or commenting here, or just bumping.
This really is a good opportunity to recognize some of our friends here.

I still haven't gotten over the fact that the originator of the term arm pantie was shut out of the HOF in 2008.

Arm Panties?

I believe those of you in L&O were ignoring us marathon folks in those days, thinking we were too serious or hardcore. : pbbt:

Then of course there was this angel in arm panties a few years later at Boston. Still no respect.

It's fun seeing who was posting back in the day...
Parent - - By elmtree Date 2017-12-20 3:50 PM
The Beard got a bunch of us free arm panties bc he called the owner's kid a douchebag.

The Beard uses the word douche a lot.

Funny, it looks like the kid is still on the website with the wife beater and white arm panties!

I have been a fan of the product.

I can't believe you've been shut out of the Hall! :shocker!: Then again, the arm panties thing was back when you mostly were posting on Marathons although you also did here. Then again again, you've been a super presence here especially in recent years with your contributions both RR and non-RR, all with your great sense of humor. Maybe folks incorrectly thought you've been taking Performance Enhancing Substances. :wtf: If it were up to me or if I had a vote...

oops I'm campaigning which is illegal for the elections judge.

It was sort of a taper madness thing that just spewed out of my brain one day after seeing one of the Moeben ads in ultrarunning magazine. I do say they did some good marketing. Always had those good looking ladies modeling their arm panties/sleeves.

Parent - - By Mookiethedog Date 2017-12-20 5:33 PM
beechcc.....put up great stats during a short career.

Just out of curiosity wasn't skylon one of the early pioneers or is there some scandal I'm digging up?  If so, he can be our Pete Rose.

I have to say after 2004 the HOF watered down significantly
Parent - - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2017-12-20 5:58 PM
Indeed, beech had a pretty amazing if short career. He might have been held back by his trolling before he mellowed and then disappeared.

And I couldn't believe sky wasn't in until I checked! No real scandal there that I recall although he was pretty open on sex stuff and maybe some peeps thought him creepy. :wtf: But he went to multiple TA FE's and other stuff, and even was the official photographer for a couple of them. He's a good dude and a major contributor here and in real life until he left. Oh, and he hosted a party at his place in NYC which I regret to this day for missing since it included our own celebrity supermodel superperson and tv star slavin.

But yeah yeah, you're the Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig of the HOF...we get that. : pbbt:
Parent - - By Mookiethedog Date 2017-12-20 7:41 PM
I love it when you call me Babe:hug:

Ok then....I vote for skylon and I will use my vote, if not all of them for him.
Parent - - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2017-12-21 8:12 PM
You know I love you, Babe.

Your vote for sky is recorded, although we don't allow multiple votes for one person so you have 4 more to spend if you'd like.

eta you have only 3 more since I've recorded your endorsement of beech as a vote.
Parent - - By Mookiethedog Date 2017-12-21 9:59 PM

Parent - - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2017-12-23 8:41 PM
I'll record that as a vote.

Funny how only a couple peeps have voted anonymously so far. Secret ballot always has been the rule but public votes are counted too. Y'all can vote however you want.

I'll mention one more thing about tommeke which many of you are aware of but some may not be aware. Besides having a great sense of humor and being an incisive intelligent observer of international and U.S. politics, sports and other things, and being a good running member of our community, he has um a different side. This is one of my favorite threads ever, and that wasn't the only time he did that.

Parent - - By Xtreme Taper Date 2018-01-04 9:30 AM
I am going to propose a few from marathons, since those of us born there are not represented very well on this list. Here are a few, myself not included.

Blazer85 - 50 state marathon quester. A completely kick ass person from what I can tell from her posts, though I've never met her.

Rob26.2 - I think he is on round2 or round3 of 50 states and to top it off runs times around 3:10 for most of them. Plus he logs some miles with his canine.

Nooner - A true southern gentlemen, also on the 50 state quest. He provides thoughtful race reports that generally include beer reviews as well.

Schantzie - A real competitor, trains like crazy, and did you know she wore an AG group competitor bib at Boston one year!!

BeastieGirl - Originator of the marathon bio page back in the day (the RW day) and these days she is working hard to chase the sub4 marathon.
Parent - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2018-01-09 7:34 PM
Those are awesome votes.
Parent - - By mutiger [us] Date 2018-01-09 8:06 PM Edited 2018-01-09 8:11 PM
I met nooner a long time ago. I pity Rob26.2's poor dog. plus I hate the 26.2 bumper stickers, there is a guy in my my neighborhood who runs marathons and brags about them, his best time is 4:30 ish,  my first marathon with minimal training was 4:20 ish. Ive run 13 marathons with a best time of 3:35 and I don't even talk about it and don't have any bumper stickers. To me the 26.2 moniker implies a sense of insecurity. I also really, really pity the guys with 13.1 bumper stickers. Sorry this should have gone into the vent thread.

ETA: I finally got clearance from my doc for working out. After I got discharged  from 6 week in the ICU in May 2017 they sternly told me not to do anything physical. Running might take a while but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Parent - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2018-01-09 8:31 PM
Hiya mut. I was wondering how you were doing physically. I'll ignore your grumpiness about stickers (which I share) and just wish you well towards that light.:hug:

I don't get those stickers, either.  I did my first marathon in 1968.  The people who knew me well were happy for me, because they knew I thought this was a big deal.  I didn't bother speaking about it with anyone else, because I knew they weren't interested.  Maybe it's a Facebook like thing, where some people feel they have to announce what they are doing to the world.  I don't get that, either.
Parent - - By Xtreme Taper Date 2018-01-10 7:34 AM
What about the 0.0 sticker?  :wtf:
Parent - - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2018-01-10 4:49 PM
Part of me thinks that's an amusing jab at pretentious runners but another part is sad that the sticker owner is proud to be a potato (recognizing that my assumption may not be true in every case).

There is an actual event somewhere, I think in MD or NC, which gives out 0.0 stickers (or maybe it was 0.1) for the event which seemed to be mostly a party (not that there's anything wrong with that). Unfortunately, I've forgotten the details about the event since I looked it up several years ago after seeing the sticker on a car in front of me in Harrisburg.
Parent - - By Xtreme Taper Date 2018-01-10 4:57 PM
Angus and I were up at Superior MN one year (I was racing) and I told him about the 0.0 sticker. He ordered one promptly. I must confess I was a tool once and had the JFK50 sticker. That was my best race ever however in my defense. Someone stole it or it fell off finally.
Parent - - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2018-01-10 5:39 PM
 Good ironic fun with Angus getting one of those.

The JFK50 sticker/magnet is way different from the generic 26.2 or 13.1 ones. Yours was a memorial of a specific event/accomplishment and no different than wearing a race t-shirt. You shouldn't feel guilty or defensive about displaying it before it was stolen or fell off. My kid's car still bears a subtle PSU T&F sticker on the back even though he graduated 8 years ago, and I think that's cool. Maybe it's a subtle difference, but I think it's a big difference displaying something specific you've experienced (even just visiting a national park, e.g.) versus proclaiming your abilities to the world. :wtf:

Parent - - By Xtreme Taper Date 2018-01-10 7:34 AM
Why do you pity his dog? The 26.2 is a tag on his forum handle. He's a marathon maniac after all so it makes sense. Rob is nothing but a modest guy from the Midwest.
Parent - - By LDR (100 Mile Stud) [us] Date 2018-01-14 10:01 AM
I don't think he meant it as a slight.

No bumper or window stickers on my Vibe either.  I think it started out that I was afraid the car wasn't going to last forever, so I didn't want to lose the sticker.

i should get one that has ">300k miles,"
to celebrate the vibe,
not me

Parent - - By sideshowbob Date 2018-01-14 10:00 PM
300K miles ?

i debated about using the "K", but liked the double entrendre, if there was any...
Parent - - By Xtreme Taper Date 2018-01-17 12:36 PM
The problem with the 300k sticker is that people might consider that the mileage of your last race.
