Planning races for 2018 and debating local marathon but would really like something new to continue my 50 states quest. I'm putting in for NYC but that's a long shot so need a back up. What are your favorite fall Oct-Dec marathons? Bonus if easy to travel to.
What states do you have already?
AZ, CA, FL, GA, HI, IL, IA, LA, MA, MN, NV, ND, OH, SD, TN, WA, WI
St. George in Utah has a good reputation, it's a lottery though. Fly to Las Vegas and rent a car, it's a couple of hours drive, or you can connect to St. George through Denver. That's in October.
Dallas in December? Big race and has a good reputation also.
I liked Charleston (SC) but that's in January.
Richmond (VA) in November. Or you could throw your hat in the ring for MCM.
Good fast race! Big but the corrals mean you don't get stuck behind a lot of walkers.
People walk a marathon? Ugh its long enough running.
When I did Honolulu people stopped to eat lunch during the marathon
no time limit so lots of walkers.

I was shocked enough to be passing children!

Grand Rapids (MI), Richmond (VA), and Rehoboth (DE) are 3 that come to mind in states you don't have yet!
Oh so DE finally got a Marathon! When I lived up there there was no marathon in DE, I think a couple running clubs put one on so people could get their 50 states.
Wow, a state without a marathon?!
Delaware is not a very big state...
It's been around for a little while. And everyone I know who has run it (or the half) only have good things to say about it.
I think Beastie Girl and her new DH are doing it this weekend.
There is one there in the spring too! I think that one they call the Coastal Marathon.
What about Caesar Rodney? That might just be a half...
Now DE is bursting with them!
<delurking> Yes, the Delaware Coastal Marathon is newish and in April. I'm running that next spring. Monster Mash is also in Delaware and is around Halloween. <lurking>

Indianapolis Monumental Marathon is a nice flat course, it's the 1st Saturday in November each year.
Thanks! Great suggestions
