Looks like this must be a USDO. I was up late last night (had to drive the swim team shuttle) so I didn't get up this morning. Have to drive again tonight, so there won't be anything there either.
We could use some rain, but man has the weather been nice lately. California weather.
Sleep is important too. At some point I accepted that trading a sleep deficit to get a run in was not always in my best interest.
Since I quit running marathons, my level of caring about missing a run has gone way down
I have a weekly goal for days/mileage. I just adapt my other runs accordingly. I don't run marathons because I just don't have time to do justice to the training.
I will reply my daily thank you very much.
Nice weather here... upper 50's close to 60 forecast today. Taking the afternoon off to enjoy the weather. About to head out now for a 5 mile run with the Lady on the trails out by the lake, then taking the missus over to Longwood Gardens for the Christmas display late this afternoon/this evening. Looks like a short sleeve day in late November, at least for running.
Don't worry. We'll find you.
I hope your run and plans are worth taking the day off for!

Easy 8 miles with my coworker. Cool and windy. Also did a total of 100 push-ups and 18 pull-ups before and after my run.

You probably hear this all the time but I'm envious of your shoe rotation.
I have a crazy number of shoes. Not sure exactly when it happened but I went from a pair or two to more than a dozen (?) in a very short period of time. When I get home tonight I will update that shoe thread. I do know that I found myself in a decent financial position a while back and just started stocking up on shoes that were on sale. I still have four or five pair in the closet that are at least a year or two old, yet new.
To your point though, this is the first time I have ever heard that.
I have friend who says to me frequently, "I know I shouldn't have,but I got a good deal on another pair of shoes." We both know she's talking running shoes not high-heels. It's a hobby.
I will probably go to the Wednesday group run. It's only a 3 mile route, but I will bring my flashlight (its small and I prefer it to headlamps) and see if anyone wants to run farther.
How many people usually turn out for your group run?
12-20? They usually have dinner so it's a good size group.
We did a group run last night and when I was done I went back out and ran in again with the runners behind me. It added another 1/2 mile.
That's a clever idea. I will run out with the faster runners and double back. Worth a try.

But once or twice a week I drag myself out with my dog, Weasley
the War Poodle, and meet a friend with her golden doodle. We all did 4, then I dropped Weasley
off and finished with 2 more.
Day 3 of the Diet. It sucks. Everything sucks. I want sugar.
Are you following a specific diet plan or are you just cutting out sugar?
I really liked the ideas in this article posted by the Mountain Tactical Institute. They train a lot of military who have to meet certain fitness requirements for various things. Click.
So for the past 3 days, I've cut out added sugar, 99% of flour/grains, eating a lot of fruit, blah blah blah. I'm eating a lot of lean chicken and legumes. I'm just so done with tracking calories, that never worked for me. But if you have any ideas about how I can grow taller, please share! If I were 5'9", I'd have no problem!
But I must say I feel better and have more energy without the sugar and flour.
Is Weasley a morning person (dog)? That's what really matters!
Not all the time. There have been days he refused to get out of bed. Today, I got up at 4:50, dressed and had coffee, than got him up for the run.
Hoping to get in some yoga/stretching tonight.
Super busy day at work today. Back to back meetings from 9am to 3pm then heading out to a client meeting from 4-5.
I am hoping the meetings will at least be productive but I'm not terribly optimistic about that.
SDOs are my favorite workout!

10 miles before work.
This is the last double digit weekday run as our marathon (Kiawah Island) is next Saturday. We will probably run before work next Monday, but at most 8 miles. We need to get organized on our plans - there is a big group (3 condos with 16 people) and we have to figure out dinner for the night before the race.

I walked a couple miles in the timber with my Siberian. Crisp and clear with a beautiful sunrise; lots of good things to sniff. Abs and arms later after the coffee kicks in and warms me up.
I've never owned a Siberian, they seem like neat dogs.
They are not your average breed; very headstrong and fairly vocal about getting their own way.
Our next door neighbors had them when we were kids! I️ remember how vocal they were!
Hope the weights were good!

I taught cycling class this morning & did shoulder & hip exercises afterwards. Every other song included 3 "breakaways" and 3 "chases", all seated so I was able to push myself some without violating doc's orders not to pedal standing up. I'll repeat the same class profile for my evening class tomorrow.
It's beautiful here! 58 degrees & barely any wind! I should get out & walk...or get up on the roof & finish hanging Christmas lights...or cut the grass/bag leaves. Decisions...decisions...decisions!

Short run for me this morning. My body was tired and not into it. Also, I'm staying with my dad who lives on the West Coast - his condo has a spectacular view out over the ocean, flip side of which is that there are some major hills in this area. I had to slow down to walk up one long very steep hill (there are little steps built into the concrete of the sidewalk) and after that I never got running again. However, it was mentally really good to get out - I'm having discussions with my dad about his end-of-life planning and even though those are going okay and it's an important line of communication to open up, I'm emotionally wiped and need opportunities to take space.
I went to the nearby municipal recreation facility yesterday afternoon. This place always cracks me up. Dad lives in a small city with a high retiree population. One day on a previous visit I went to this gym at 10:00 am on a Monday thinking it would be deserted, but it was wall-to-wall with the over-65 set. My favourite was one lady who was working her way around the weights machines - she'd do a set at a certain machine, get up and shuffle with her walker to the next machine, do her set, shuffle-shuffle-shuffle to the next one, and so on. Yesterday I saw another hard-core senior - a guy who ambled in just before me wearing a big woolly sweater and a woolly hat; he went over to the cubbies in the area where all the treadmills were, put the sweater and the hat in a cubbie, and, in his pleated dress pants and collared shirt, walked vigourously on the treadmill (at a pretty steep incline!) for about 20 minutes, then put his sweater and hat back on, and ambled out again.
I did a mix of treadmill intervals - bumping up my speed by 0.1 every minute - and weights machines. I''m definitely feeling the strength training today - I pushed myself to move up the weight on some of the exercises and my muscles are letting me know about it.

I'm taking the day off. It's cooler here today too. Last night, we went to the tree lighting and my kid was in shorts and short sleeves.
Speaking of weather, my husband and son are flying to Philadelphia next week for a father/son adventure and the Army/Navy game. I had to go buy my kid a heavy coat, thermals, long sleeve tops, gloves, etc.
He'll be dressed for the tundra.
Made me laugh after the conversations for seeing people all bundled up yesterday.
50s & 60s here today (I'm in NJ ~10 minutes from Philadelphia) but by the end of next week the highs are forecast to barely reach 40. Dressing for the tundra for sure!

Didn't get to run last night due to foster kitty stuff. I had to take them to the vet yesterday and that took more time than I thought. I got a workout in, but no run. The kitties went back to the adoption center today
They predict they will be adopted quickly
. They're in a nice big kennel with the toys and bed I got for them. Looking forward to having more time for my own kitties now and some down time in general.
I have plans for dinner with a friend tonight but hope to get out for about 6 before that.

I’ve been posting very little as I plow through the last few weeks of classes. Sunday I had a fabulous run on a path I usually hike with my sweetie and our grands. It’s now my new favorite running route. I had a great run today while the grands rested between some Christmas decorating and a movie. Moana I think. Missed the rain that came before the cold front but it’s windy now and I think we’re in for a bumpy boat ride when we bring them back.

11.5 miles. Sunny, but chilly.
4.3 miles with some friends this morning. it was not raining, nor windy.
Nice and chatty and very hilly. I did some strength/core work when i got home. This is a cut-back week as i have a 2 mile race saturday.
Then it was mom day which required putting together some cabinet thing with inadequate directions and crappy tools. then off to the pool with mom for deep water exercise class which was fun. then off to work.
I'm so over year end already.

Lifting. Usual thing. I am happy to announce that I can lift more weight than my 14 year old son. I shall treasure this moment in the days to come.
