i'm guilty myself of getting into big, serious and even angry things in the other thread but this one is only about little things for which we are thankful. i'll start.

a hound dog groaning happily when snuggling
a defrosted turkey ready to roast and thinking about the smells of thanksgiving
driving to a football game and talking with a grown son about everything as adults
bare feet and jammies under a fur snugger on the couch

your turn

College football on the satellite radio while driving the missus around amish country in the rain while she shops for quilting fabric at off the wall places.

Local craft brewers selling beer in full pint size cans. There is something great about that extra pour.

Talking with strangers on the trail who have friendly leashless beasts.

The Lady sitting on her doggy bed nursing her favorite stuff teddy.

SirB the springer barking his head off demanding his walk around the block.

that's a lot to be thankful for.

college football, pro football, baseball and other sports on satellite is a wonderful little thing when trapped in a car.

The entertainment value at Thanksgiving when my step-daughter's lap dog checked out our gator head, and started licking it.

OSU 31, Michigan 20

JT Barret 4-0 against Michigan.

Urban Meyer, 6-0 against Michigan.

For those of us who suffered through the John Cooper years I guess this is more of a big stuff thing.
Parent - - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2017-11-27 6:20 PM
 i completely understand all of that. congrats to the buckeyes although i'll be rooting for wiscy in the championship.

I'll be rooting for UW...IN PERSON.

I think it's 50/50 on who will win.  UW almost always plays well against OSU. The UW defense has been outstanding so far and I'm hoping that holds true on Saturday. The offense will have to step up some. Hornibrook is the weak link, he can have a good game like he did against Minnesota but he can make some terrible throws like he did against Iowa. Take away the throwing game and the opposing defense will zero in on Taylor and Shaw.
Parent - - By The Beard (is wearing Arm Panties) [us] Date 2017-11-28 10:03 AM
Of course the last time UW played OSU for the Big Ten championship they lost 0-59.
Parent - - By Xtreme Taper Date 2017-11-28 12:29 PM
Wait, and JT Barret was injured in the Michigan game, and the backup came in, and well you know the rest.

Hope you guys get some respect in tonight's poll.
Parent - - By The Beard (is wearing Arm Panties) [us] Date 2017-11-28 1:22 PM
So do I but, honestly, the Badgers have not had a difficult schedule. Still, it's hard to argue against an undefeated season and the defense has been stellar, especially in the last few games.
Parent - - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2017-11-28 5:37 PM
hey the schedule may not have been *that* difficult but it's not the badgers' fault that byu and the huskers decided to suck this year...and i don't think any game was in doubt including good wins over iowa, michigan and northwestern if i recall correctly. wisconsin deserves a ton more respect than they've been getting...take that to the bank of little things.

and going to indy again is a big little thing to be thankful for, especially if it's with your dad and kid again.

a kitten who survived panleukocytopenia (has a horrific mortality rate in kittens)
working from home and looking at the traffic map with freeways looking like a map of the circulatory system -- all red. So nice not to be out there.
a snuggly cat
running a trail race and knowing that there are still remote places on this planet
a glass of wine at the end of the day
picking angels off the angel tree and finding items that are exactly what was requested
Parent - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2017-11-22 6:27 PM
all things to be thankful for although a couple are bordering on big.

The fact I have good relationships with my immediate family and look forward to spending time with them.

A treadmill in the basement when I am too busy to figure out what to wear when it's dark, rainy or 15 degrees outside.

Coffee.

Friends who always manage to call or text when I'm taking myself too seriously and make me smile.

Watching the mist rise over a thawing meadow in the morning sun as a raccoon emerges from the field and regards you with head tilted curiously as grandma rings the dinner bell behind you and the smell of fresh baked biscuits wafts over all the land.

You guys should be thankful for net neutrality whilst it lasts.

Of course I'm thankful for my baby

net neutrality - seriously

not gonna get into net neutrality being stripped. :meh:
Parent - - By mutiger [us] Date 2017-11-27 6:30 PM
there is an asshole guy of Indian origin in Trump's administration who says net neutrality doesn't make sense. HE does not make sense to me, wonder what he is smoking.
Parent - - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2017-11-27 6:37 PM
it's probably a matter of who is paying him, not what he's smoking.
Parent - By mutiger [us] Date 2017-11-27 8:48 PM
lobbyists I guess?
Parent - - By BrookieCookie (Canadian Beaver) Date 2017-11-28 8:20 AM
None of those people make any sense to me. This Washington Post thing is ridonc. They really think the media is fake news? What the fuck??

A friend posting old pictures on facebook today including one where I had far more hair, far less stomach and horrible taste in clothes.

Dill flavored Cashews

Cufflinks

The friendly dog I met this morning.  He and his person are homeless but I think they both smile more than I do...

The cab driver who takes me to BART when I'm flying out who was seven (I've heard about several of them) ex wives and is now looking for number 8.  He smiles alot too (apparently no kids or alimony)

Dancing

(avoiding the big things that I'm thankful too which are far more numerous than I deserve)

Sunny days in late November warm enough to finish yard clean-up and put up the Christmas lights. Of course, some neighbors drop by to critique the display .:grin:
Parent - - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2017-11-29 4:43 PM
yes, outside of the neighbors a couple very nice little things for which to be thankful. i took advantage of finishing yard clean-up but for some reason decided to wait on the christmas lights until it's finger-numbing cold.
Parent - - By sideshowbob Date 2017-11-29 7:32 PM
I was only joshing about the neighbors. One brought along a nice IPA
Parent - By jaszflamus (I like wool!) Date 2017-11-30 7:28 PM
