Friday is usually my rest day. The first flakes are flying her. Just some light, lake effect stuff from the finger lakes. I think I will make my first crock pot of veggie chili this weekend
What are you peoples up to!?
I hope your chili meets or exceeds you expectations!
I had a glut of tomatoes at the end of the summer. so I made tomato sauce and put it in the freezer and plan to use it in the chili, so I hope that makes it extra good
4.5 miles on the trails this morning.
I had a very unusual, unscheduled day off yesterday. I had a lunch meeting and should have gotten up to run before work, but hoped for some free time later in the afternoon. It didn't help that it was raining and 50 degrees all day so it would have been a TM day. I'm racing a half marathon tomorrow so rationalized that the day off would help with that. I did have to make sure that I didn't go longer with the other folks at the trails this morning to try and make up for the lost miles from yesterday.
You hardly ever take days off. I'd like to get back to that. Actually I have been running 5 days a week but real short stuff. Good luck at the half!
I looove days off. I just hate taking them on days I plan to run. UnSDO vs SDO in other words.
I think you're right about the day off. Best at your race
Good luck tomorrow! Do you have a goal?
This is the first race in a long time where I have had a goal. I ran a 1:47 two years ago, so I'd like to do better than that. I'd like to get back under 1:45 but I don't think that's in the cards for tomorrow.
Thanks! And I hope you succeed with your goal on Sunday.

Good luck tomorrow!
I probably won't run today, but I am not counting out the possibility of a little 3 mile trail jog with the Lady late afternoon. I do want to get the lawn mowed during the lunch hour. Big freeze coming tonight and for some weird reason I like the lawn probably groomed before that happens. Yes I am strange.
Enjoy your chili. I made white chili last weekend but this weekend is more like chili weather.
Good luck with the run or the lawn whichever you decide.
I'm thinking I shall be taking another day off.
Just stay away from cranes.

For today you've got a deal, no promises regarding this weekend though.
Recipe for the chili please?
hmmm..lemme see if I remember
1 can of dark red kidney beans and 1 can of light red kidney beans
medium size onion
1 red or green bell pepper
carrots chopped up into little nuggets
2 or 3 fresh tomatoes
1 little can of tomato paste
a jar of Newman's Own marinara sauce (but this time I'm using what I made)
salt and pepper and sometimes some red pepper and chili powder
just throw it all in the crock pot for 3 or 4 hours and then I top with some cheese and have some nice fresh bread on the side for dipping for dipping
Sounds delicious! Thanks!
You know, you can make a fine chilli with ground turkey. Just saying.
The first flakes are flying?!?
Rest day for me also. Well, rest day from running. I need to do all my hip and core exercises.
rest day buddies.
5 pull-ups + 40 push-ups + 5 pull-ups, then easy 7 miles outside in the bitter cold, then another 5 pull-ups, 25 push-ups, and 5 more pull-ups
My body fell apart reading that.
Nice strength stuff!

Squats, shoulder presses, deadlifts. Perhaps I will attempt some sort of cardio situation tomorrow.

I had the day off work and was planning to go on trail but had to cut the grass for the last time and winterize outside because we're going down into the teen temps tonight. So it was a mere 3.5 miles with the hound on the roads late this morning in the increasing chill. Which still was good.
It I have not been too disciplined so far today. I actually reset my alarm (set for 5:45) and went back to bed until (Ahem)
Last night after working until 6:45 and making a quick trip to the store, I sat down on the couch knowing I had one last 2 mile run in my 1/2 training cycle.
I told myself it was late and I'd get up early tomorrow and do it. Then it hit me. I had been going around all day with track pants and a sweatshirt over running shorts and a tech shirt for just one reason.(Thankfully I work from home.) If I ate and went to bed, not only would I have to get up extra early tomorrow, I would have spent the day in this silly get-up for no reason.
Made me feel likes poser so I got my butt downstairs and ran 2.25.
I thoroughly enjoyed the run and the sense of accomplishment of knowing I am done until my race.
Great job getting it done
Nice job getting it done! Is your race Saturday or Sunday?
Have an awesome race!!

Best of luck.
7.1 miles for me -- solo but I got it done
Where is your posse of buds?
I had to do my long run today because my husband is out of town this weekend and I didn't think I could find an early morning sitter.

The usual four miles on the usual trail this morning. Low 50s, no wind.
LittleTex was home sick from school yesterday. Seemed like a cold, or maybe just exhaustion.
Sounds like perfect running conditions.
Get better LittleTex!
Hope LittleTex is feeling better today!
Sounds like perfect running weather.

How old is LittleTex? The age where you get extra cuddles from a sick kid or the age where the teen just grumps around and leaves snot-filled tissues everywhere?

First flakes! Wow. I don't miss hard winters, but those first flurries are certainly nice.
Gym day for me today.
Does Whitey miss his radiator?

I certainly miss posting the annual Whitey-on-the-radiator fall picture.
5 miles for me this morning in 20-something degree windchills with like 15mph winds.
It actually wasn't as bad as it sounds, I am just not ready for these temperatures yet! The run felt really good aside from battling the headwind for half the run.
We won our first corporate vball game last night!
Then we lost the second two games.
We aren't very good, but we have a lot of fun and I was happy to see some new people come out last night.
This weekend I will be painting the landing upstairs in my house. I will be perilously hanging off a ladder over a stairwell to paint the ceiling and one of the walls, so that should be fun. I guess it's no more dangerous than when I painted 3-story houses during college and did the same thing outdoors.
I guess I am just old and more cautious now.
The ceiling and walls will be followed by lots and lots of trim painting, which is one of the circles of hell as far as I'm concerned. I hate painting trim.
Ugh, I hate wind, at any time of the year.
I don't know how you can make that weather sound good.

Bed magnet won this morning - and I'm not even mad
finally got up and mrbarney and I took the dogs on a nice long walk. stopped on the way to work at SB and got a caramel macchiato. I don't drink coffee - so I'm super jittery and wired right now, might have been the wrong drink choice
Do you have the zoomies?
2017-11-10 10:46 AM
so much! my coworkers are like STFU!

Getting repetitive but it's gotta be that way for a while. 1 set hip exercises + 1 mile walk this morning. Will repeat that later.
So, as some of you know in my retired life I have a PT gig teaching indoor cycling (aka "Spin") classes 3 X a week. Toward the end of the last week I taught before hip surgery our group exercise coordinator, who is great to work for and has had the job for almost the past 4 years, announced she was leaving the position for a PT nutrition job at a local hospital, while she is also attending college online to become a registered dietician. Our fitness director just sent an email announcing her replacement and it will be a woman I worked for when I taught at another club for about 3 years. She is awesome & they couldn't have found a better person for the job! It's not like I'm working a 40 hour week job but this will be a stressless turnover for all!
2017-11-10 10:53 AM
well that is great news on the work front
That's pretty cool!
That's great that they replaced a great person with another great person. How often does that happen?
Yesterday I decided that cross training indoors sounded a lot more appealing than running outside.
I ended up with an hour on the bike. No regrets.
Today is a SDO, and the plan for tomorrow is 12 miles. At least it's warming up now.
Nice! You're training for a race, right?
2017-11-10 2:29 PM
No, not at the moment. I will start a marathon training cycle in January, but I'm just building base fitness at this point.
Good luck with your 12 miler!

Have fun this weekend!!
