Nobody wants to start a daily today because we are still all so blown away by Las Vegas. But while we grieve we must move on to be beacons of hope in our neighborhood and community. Post em.
QOTD. Have you been to Las Vegas?
Some good news...
Literally, my best run in several years. For the first time in years I was able to go a full 5k without walking!!! Granted they are sparkling 13+ min miles but I was able to do it. I did not set out to do that when I started out, it just felt like I could keep going. See if I pay for it tonight. I have my first 5k in almost exactly a month, so I hope to be able to be able to make a little more speed by then.
I am working on community prayer gathering with the pastor. Perhaps we will do a prayer tree out front.
I've never been to Vegas. Thought about it several times but time gets in the way. Perhaps in the future we will, perhaps not. This event will not determine the trip.

Tom - Congratulations on your successful run today.
I woke up extremely tired this morning so I went ahead and skipped my workout to get some more sleep. It didn't help much as I am still really dragging today. At work I am ignoring just about everything and working quietly on the top priority items. No multi-tasking today.
I had 2 very good friends at work who got married and moved to Las Vegas. I made 2 multi-purpose trips there. In 2002 I went there and ran my first marathon. In 2005 I went back for a visit and ran the half marathon. The second trip is where I met Michelle and we ran the Friendship 5k the day before the marathon/half marathon.
My friends showed me around. There are a lot of free shows that casinos put on to get people in the door and I saw some of those. I also took a 1-day trip to the Grand Canyon while there. I am not a gambler. I buy a lottery ticket maybe once a year. But I did play the slot machines a little bit while there. Mostly just did site-seeing.
The marathon used to be a smallish affair out in the desert, but they turned it into another overdone rock-n-roll event with thousands of people. Glad I got to run it before that happened.
Just returned from a 3.5 mile power walk. Off to the shower and running errands.
QOTD -- yes have been to Las Vegas. Found it interesting.
Thanks for starting the daily Tom!
Great job on those pieerwalks, MB!
Thanks. I am really enjoying them.
Taking a rest day today. I'm meeting a former coworker for lunch - brown bagging it at the picnic table at the hospital as she only gets 30 minutes.
Stlll purging and rearranging my newly empty nest. 15 bags to Goodwill so far.
I've never been to Las Vegas. I don't think they keep the same hours I do - I have a feeling being in bed at 8pm is a no go in that setting.
I made pumpkin bread yesterday. Delicious!
Glad your run went well Tom.
I've never been to Vegas. It really hasn't appealed to me. I've never gambled so maybe that's what I think about when Las Vegas comes up. I wouldn't know what to do with a slot machine.
I ran late morning. The first 3 miles were horrible. No rhythm, felt tired, and wanted to quit. Slowly felt better and ended up feeling great the last 4 miles. 8 total. I think the change of time of my usual run threw me a curve ball that first few miles.
I like to people watch when in Las Vegas.
Went looking for pansies and could not find any!
Isn't it too hot there?? For pansies?
I saw some last week at the stores but I will admit, they looked very, very sad.
QOTD: LV is one of those places that everyone should see once. It is definitely NOT for everyone (not for me) but it's worth going to people see, catch shows etc. I know people who go several times a year and it baffles me because I am not the kind to gamble, get drunk, smoke etc.
Not getting many workouts in this week. Everything hurts. Taper madness: status normal
I have been to Vegas many times over the years.
It's a surreal kind of place for me and I've always had enough after two days. I did run both of my Boston qualifiers on the old LV Marathon course.
I have no plans to ever go back, but would go see someone in concert, if they were playing there.
Congrats on your move, BBS! You are full of adventure!
Yes I am.
Always willing to take a chance. I'd rather reach the end of my days replaying the chances I took, whether they panned out as I had hoped or not, as opposed to saying, "gee, I wish I woulda.... or, why didn't I.....?"
Those men are disgusting!
