What’s your mood like today?
Parent - - By spiritbear [us] Date 2017-10-02 7:40 AM
--I’m in a decent mood this morning considering.

--Appointment with the orthopedic specialist was a waste of my time and money. It didn’t start off good when before I even met the doctor they took me back for X-rays.....of my shoulder. I’m like, it’s not my shoulder the reason I am here. It is my arm and hand. The technician more or less just ignored me and went on with FOUR X-rays of my shoulder. :mutmad::wtf: After that and sitting around in the treatment room for 45 minutes the doctor comes in. Asks some questions, does a few little ROM tests and what not and then tells me he doesn’t have a clue what is going on. And, that it’s not my shoulder. Really? Like I didn’t already know that. Other than the couple carpal tests on the wrist, he did nothing in the way of my forearm, upper arm or elbow joint. Sent me home with a $65 wrist brace that is only aggravating the situation and ordered a nerve conduction test.

--I may go ahead and schedule the nerve test with the intention of probably cancelling. I have a series of massages (every 5-8 days) lined up for the next 6 weeks or so and I’m working on it myself as much as possible. I’m also going to try to get in with this woman chiropractor. I’ve heard very good things about her. I think my money may be better spent going this route rather than with our shitty medical system.

--So, do you refuse to pay for the X-rays? I have an issue with that and they will hear about it.

--Iowa got my cat lady’s soybeans all harvested and to market. It wasn’t the best crop but her land has been neglected for so long. She’s going to get a nice little chunk of money and Iowa made enough off of that one field to pay for his combine so I’m happy. : pbbt:

--He has two more fields of soybeans (25 acres and 16 acres) to harvest plus our little 2 acre plot. These other fields will yield considerably more beans because the ground is much more fertile.

--I’m going to make mango margaritas for our book group this weekend.

--Got together with high school friends this weekend. Had a nice time. They all came out Saturday and got a tour of the acres. Paige and Royann went crazy in the garden. I gave them each a bucket and they filled it full of beans, tomatoes and peppers.

--I’m getting a 90 minute massage today with a new guy. I think using a couple different therapists may be a good thing.

Your appointment sounds just like mine with my foot last year. They started with xrays, then asked random questions where he wasn't really listening, and put me in an ankle support that made it worse Then when I went back he's like oh that's the bone not the tendon/ligament/whatever and I'm like duh that's what I told you to begin with!

I would dispute the charge for the Xrays, doesn't hurt to try. Years ago I had an allergy test done - it was their first course of treatment and after having these things on my back for days, having it checked and told well let's wait another 2 days, come back and told no allergies and no idea what was causing my issue. I asked if it was normal for the tests to come back negative and they said yes - I'm like then why have this $1000 test as the first thing if it often comes up inconclusive, not to mention having to go back for another office visit "just in case". I asked them to at least write off the 2nd office visit because I felt like it was done just to take in more $$ and they ended up writing off that plus the test itself because they didn't want me to think they were being unethical.

Well, I fully intend to say something. I don’t know where the whole thing about it being my shoulder even came in to play. Maybe the line of communication between my FP and making the appointment with the specialist? Still, I would think they orthopedic would want to make some sort initial analysis before deciding on anything to do. I understand he is a bone/joint guy but he had 100% disregard for the entire muscular system. I think he spent too much time on the beach when he was in school.

When I first read it I was thinking well maybe they want to see if the problem is starting at the shoulder and causing the lower pain but you would think they would xray those areas too
Parent - By spiritbear [us] Date 2017-10-02 12:00 PM
What’s even more aggravating was that the doctor stated, “There’s nothing in your shoulder that would cause your hand to go to sleep”. Exactly. Then why did  you X-ray that? GRRR!!!! :mutmad::mutmad::mutmad::mutmad::mutmad:

Absolutely don't pay for the x-rays. You told them they were the wrong body part and they refused to listen. I'd send a letter before they even bill you with a complaint.

Thanks. I’ll do that.

I'm cranky - I started having a sore throat Sat and it got a lot worse Sunday and I started to feel like I had a fever. Taking care of a baby while feeling bad is no joke.

After I put him to bed for the night it was like my body said ok I can fall apart now. About 5 min later I got chills and achey and then my fever started to get worse. It felt like I had a sunburn and my face was even visibly red. I woke up in the middle of the night and it seemed like it had broken. But now I have started to notice a few red bumps on my hands. Hard to know if it is just my normal skin issues I've been having or if it is the start of hand foot mouth that B had. You would think if it was HFM I would have gotten it sooner from him not after he was already on the mend.

Of course now I just feel like I'm itching all over

Never would have thought I'd actually want to go to work but I do just to be done with a sick kid and sick mom

House is a disaster. With B being home most of last week I was just exhausted from trying to work and watch him and the house looks worse than usual. Not that it is just me who keeps up on things but I think it is a perfect storm of crap around the house and not being able to do anything about it.

I really really really need to start working out when I feel better again. Oh and eat better - I mean that could start now, but why would I do that

So sorry you are sick now. Babies are little germ-monkeys.

Definitely our bodies know when they can break down. I can't believe how many times I've gotten sick on days when I'm supposed to be off or just after the kids go for the weekend. It is quite ridiculous. I also tend to get migraines after big projects or events are over.

I hope you feel better soon!

I have had a migraine on and off since Saturday morning. :meh: It was all day Sat, half of Sunday and then was gone but is now returning today. Yay. Gonna go have a coke. The only thing that ever makes a real difference.:mutmad:

I had such a wonderful Fall break! More sleep. No kids. Nothing to do since my foot is injured and requires a boot to do anything. Talk about a lot of down time. I really enjoyed it!

Kids were brought back last night at 7. And back to the races we go! Yay:meh:

I had my MRI this morning. I got a CD with 207 images. Very cool. I of course peeked at them and am self-diagnosing with my health history and google image comparison  with a PF tear and a heel fracture. Let's hope I suck at radiology. Not that either would be a surprise.

What is worse is that I can't get in to see my doc until next Wednesday for the results:cry: I'm going to call every morning to see if there is an opening starting on Thursday. They should have the results by then. :meh:

I surprised Tj at lunch today. He was so excited and cute because we got to sit up on the stage. But I was told next time to bring him McDonalds. Bossy boy.

Neither one of those diagnoses sound very good. :meh: Here’s hoping you suck!

Have you looked into getting prescription pills for your migraines?

Was it a special day or why did you get to sit on stage (seems like that is out of the norm)
Parent - - By Photocat [us] Date 2017-10-03 6:53 AM
You get to sit on stage, if you want, when someone comes to eat with you.

I have not looked into meds because they usually respond to motrin/tylenol/coke mix and are 1.5 days or less.  And since I got my glasses they have lessened. But after this past weekend, I might consider it. At the very least i'll be getting something otc that is specifically for migraines.

FWIW Excedrin extra strength is the same as Exedrin Migraine if you go OTC.  The active ingredients are the same but Extra strength is cheaper than the migraine version
