The one thing I've been afraid to do since the surgery is a hill workout. Today was the day. With a hilly 10k this weekend I figured it was the right time...
I went back to my old reliable hill. It's about 300m and gets steeper as it goes. It's a killer.
2 mile warm up
10xhill all around 5:57-6:03 pace with jog downs.
2 miles at 6:11
I felt really strong and my hip felt good. I was running about 2 seconds faster than I used to run this hill so that's exciting!
That's so amazing! You're not only totally back to where you were, you've surpassed it.

5.7 for me this morning. Another faster paced run, averaging an 8:09, mainly thanks to hammering a 7:15 mile 5. Usually a good run for me averages just over 8:30, so I was moving today. It's funny how whatever is responsible for my not being able to sleep coincides so perfectly with having great runs.
I always know when I'm not sleeping, my running is on fire.
