Woke up to thunder, lightning and RAIN! Woo hoo!
lots of rain and what knot here too.
11.13 rainey miles this morning. did not get much lighting. 3 miles easy. 3x2 miles at HMP of 7:15 with 1/2 mile recovery. splits pace: 7:11, 7:13, 7:15. 1 mile cool down
Rain all day and into tomorrow i think. temps are cooler too.
Cloudy, maybe rain later. Fingers crossed.
My legs and feet hurt so badly last night I resorted to Tylenol so I could fall asleep. I take pain reliever maybe once a year so you know it was bad. 5 miles in new shoes maybe wasn't so smart.
Lower body strength workout and some yoga stretches are on tap for later. Just back from Kitty Love and Misha is lobbying for a walk.....
Rainy in Delaware too. Flood watches/warnings. I slept in.
Retirement Observation: Your body needs sleep. You know all of those days you got by on 4,5,6 h of sleep...or less, when you were younger? Now my body is finally demanding pay back. Those 9h nights are starting to feel good.
Tom in DE
Oh my gosh Tom you are so right about sleep. I used to sleep at the most 6 hours and they were not solid sleep. Now I sleep an average of 8 hours and boy do I feel good! Plus I am not restless at night.
yup. sleep is as good for you as your workout! enjoy the weather
Ab/Core and cardio videos done this morning. We made some tomato soup and boy did it taste so good. Perfect for a wet, cool morning.
no miles. need to do some cross training.
rain here too.
sometimes I love a rainy day. picked up a friend for Josh. morgan had a friend bike over. laughter in da house.
We are all getting rain. We desperately needed it.
random good luck to driving dave.
I hope he does not encounter any bad weather.
It rained this morning, after my run. I'm back to business with school. Today was the opening day for teachers. Kids come through the doors on Wednesday. Melissa and I rode together to the high school for the staff breakfast and superintendent pep talk. Then back to our respective schools for the day. I'm beginning my 27th year teaching PE/Health. 29 years in education including two years as a substitute teacher. I'm the longest teaching teacher on my faculty. I'm teaching with teachers who I had as a student.
Yesterday I went with Melissa to the local mall. She needed shoes so we went to Shoe Carnival. I was looking around not intending to buy anything when I saw the running shoes I use all the time (Saucony Omni) discounted from $120 to $60. I couldn't believe it. I walked out with new shoes.
8 miles this morning in my new shoes.

Congratulations on all those years Mike. It takes a special person to teach. How long has Melissa been at her school?
Congrats on the shoes too! I posted a link awhile back for good shoe reviews. I posted on a weekend I think so it may have slipped through the cracks. The website is www.runrepeat.com. I found a good $ on some Brooks.
that's awesome. congrats on 27 long hard years.
also on the shoes!
Hello from Grand Rapids. Leg 1 of the great adventure went good. My neck and back did pretty good. I'm looking forward to getting Annabelle back tomorrow morning. My guess is that she sleeps a bunch in the car tomorrow.
Glad to hear that the trip is going well so far.
