It's LOLLA DAY!!!

So things I did this morning include inducing asthma through medical tests and taking a fecal sample from a chicken. How's your day going?
Is something wrong with one of your girls?

They are eating eachother's poop. So we are guessing there are worms. If one has it, they all do, so we will treat all if the sample comes back positive.

yeah, any other creature doing this....
I am on a Seattle backyard farmers listserv and the question came across one day of "how to I get my chickens to stop eating my goat's poop?" The answer was "deworm the goats". That's what makes me think this is a worm issue!
I don't know what lolla day is
I am extremely frustrated by the lass's situation. We (meaning she with me) see a GI psychologist specialist for issues related to her nausea. However the lass has developed some OCD and anxiety issues that we'd also like to nip in the bud. When we mentioned these to the psych she suggested we see a more local psych and one who specializes in these issues as she doesn't feel she has the skills to deal with that and because it's a PITA to get to her. She gave us a list of providers with one being highlighted. That provider isn't seeing new patients but put us on a wait list with NO CLUE when a spot would open. I inquired at another office and was told that there might be a spot but it's up to the psych and if they open a spot you either take it or too bad AND she (the assistant or OM or whatever she was) wanted ALL of A's info before even inquiring if they had a spot available. So not only can we not get her seen, but her nausea has gotten worse in the last month and POTS specialists doesn't want to see her (even though he's the one prescribing the meds for her) and the GI specialists wants to do an empiric diet which we are less than thrilled about for a variety of reasons. We know that a LOT of her issues are actually in her head, but damn we can't get any freaking help. I am tempted to just call the EAP for J's work and get her in through one of those offices and she if they can work magic.
Lolla = Lollapalooza (music festival)
Medical stuff is so frustrating.
They tell you to do something, but then what "they" apparently want you to do is put your name on a list and wait.
What do you have to lose by going through J's EAP? I mean, certainly some time and money, but is there a chance it could be a useful way to get in and see someone?
Actually we don't lose money as she would get 6 free visits. I did call another office but she is out until Tues now but I can email her and see if she can respond (she said she would have email access in our phone tage today). If we can't get in with this facility I will call the EAP and get started there.
I would do that. If you have resources available, use them.
What is an empiric diet?
It's a very strict food elimination diet. The theory behind it, is to find what food might be bothering/causing symptoms. Instead of doing a single type of food at one time it's all 6 at one time. Dr has said it can be unsafe to try it without being under medical supervision so she would have to be under the care of a nutritionist at CHOP to do it. We are VERY reluctant to try it. I really think she just needs therapy.
I think trying the EAP route is a good idea - it doesn't hurt to try and if they can't find anyone better you don't lose anything from it, but you might just end up getting where you need sooner.

The EAP sounds like a good idea. Also, continuing on at the GI psych until you can get in with the others. The GI psych can handle nausea issues and the EAP can handle the others. I would just suck it up and do the emperic diet if you could get it done at a time where she is mostly home (not at camp or away). Cover all the bases. Sorry it's so frustrating.
