Oh my. This RD done been freakin OUT here, fellow twisted
sisters and brothers!! It's really political and also crappy
because it could have been avoided but for a certain little
someone, but I wanted to share here before I put it on
the website and beyond:
"In a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks." -Warren Buffett
Change is'a comin' to the Twisted Ankle...
Due to complications emerging from an injunction from a federal judge against the US Forest Service, this race will not be able to utilize National Forest land this year.
Therefore, here at the last minute, we are re-routing the course. It is going to be quite different: a loop for half marathoners, 2 for full marathoners. We will not be running along the ridge or on forest service roads. Still, the majority of the race will be on trail.
The race will be contained within James H. Floyd State Park. You'll be running on a bit more asphalt (a couple miles more), and on an interesting one mile long fire break complete with steep climbs and descents. There will be more climbing than usual due to this.
But don't fret...You still get to experience Becky's Bluff! As a matter of fact, you full marathoners get to experience it TWO TIMES! You lucky ducks! Also, you'll all be able to see more of this beautiful state park than you have before, and the course will be a ton more spectator friendly.
I appreciate the encouragement I've gotten throughout this ordeal, and I appreciate also your understanding and acceptance of this new and exciting adventure that is the 2012 Twisted Ankle Trail Marathon and Half Marathon!
So that's what I'm getting ready to tell all the runners. Crazy, eh?

Becky's Bluff twice.
Oh boy. At what miles?
This is kind of sad, but change doesn't always have to be bad. The opportunity for more spectator spots is pretty cool. I hope feedback is mostly positive.
I'm just a little, um, sleepless, mostly because it's going
to be not exactly a LOOPY loop, but more of a MAZE of
a loop, since I have to squish it all into the park. It'll
You have my complete and total support, my dear. Also, my thanks for all of the effort put into making the race still happen despite all of this mess.
You have no idea how nice that sounds to my ears!

I think this sounds great Bec. I really wish I was going to be there
(I'm jealous I don't get to run the new course!)
Oh, you'll be along the course in spirit!
This might be even more fun.
Actually, it's 2 different loops, and the halfers will run each of them
once and the fulls will do them twice. I couldn't fit a 13 mile loop into
Now I'm super bummed out that I won't be there. Missing it is bad enough but missing the course change makes it worse.

ok, I'm all in.
I feel for you battling the crappy politics and stuff though...and special thanks if I forget to say so in a couple weeks.
Oh you silly Jasz, you know you won't forget!
Is it George proof???
Sounds like you have been crazy busy!!! It will be even better than before I am sure.
Is anything really George proof, Cookie Monster?
And thanks, we shall see how it goes!!
