next month, we will be driving cross country from california to the east coast:grin:  so I think it will be fun to post about towns/sights that we drive through:cool:

so stay tuned!

so far, all we have planned is stopping at the Grand Canyon and Dallas to visit my brother.  Anyone have any suggestions as to places we should try and see on the way to the east coast?:wtf:  take Interstate 20, 30, or 40?:wtf:

I say 4 corners region, and a day or two stay in Durango would be great, but that is probably a little far north for your drive.

A little south, you could drive the "Enchanted Circle" in New Mexico near Cimarron.  It's pretty.  40 west, Left turn on I-25 in Albuquerque, 285 N at Santa Fe, then I think it's 68 to 64.

There's always the panhandle of Oklahoma.  Hold your nose at Guymon!

But since you'll be in Dallas, you could go a little north and catch Rt. 66 (parallels Rt 44, a toll road--I would only choose OK City to Tulsa, though because it winds a lot and will take probably 3 hours to drive w/speed limits/lights) between OK City and Tulsa.  I used to live near that area, too and despite what some people say, it is a pretty area, especially as you get closer to Tulsa (a lot more hills and trees, looking a lot more like Missouri and Arkansas).

Pressed for time, though, I'd do the Enchanted Circle over Rt. 66.  Much nicer views.  You could stop in Taos and check out the artsy shops.

If you take I 20 West from Dallas you will pass through Sweetwater.  I will meet you at the Mc Donald's right off the intestate for a short visit or take you to Lunch/dinner if you have time!  Let me know the day and I will do my best to see you!
